Arrival Story: I was at the huge Orange County dog pound and didn't see dogs in the available section that caught my eye. I decided to walk down the many aisles of the big dogs section when I saw him. My husband and I had discussed either getting a boxer or a lab, and here was a perfect mix. The date on his cage said he was available today, and when I asked - they said that they just hadn't moved him yet. The pound encouraged me to take him home that day (even without my husband there) and said I had 3 days to bring him back, but the moment he walked in the house - there was nothing to decide. No training was even necessary - he walked out the doggie door and into our hearts.
Bio: We obviously don't know about his puppyhood, but we wonder why when we got him, the back end above the tail was shaved. The vet said there was nothing he could tell that was physically wrong with him, but we noticed that he struggled getting up onto the couch and running at the park. Three years later, he's stronger than ever and the leader of the pack (that is when Charger doesn't have a hold of his harness!)
