Life it is a changing

Wow, there is so much going on that I don't even know how to fit it all in. Mom has been home with us tons which is great and there are now tons of people coming over, and that is even more fun because I am so excited to meet all of them. Natasha always takes up their attention so I go around behind them and jump at their behinds! Heh. I am like a stealthy dog-ninja. Well, I would be if I wasn't barking so much. Mom says ninjas don't bark all the time. Well, I am just special then.
But everyone is helping mom & dad with stuff for the house. It is totally smelly and no fun at all. But Natasha and I keep showing them where the ball is, just in case they forgot. It is sure exhausting watching all of those people work though, so I better get some sleep so I can make sure they know where my ball is tomorrow.
Signed,
Boris, the barking ninja

Dude, Where's My Summer?

Mom keeps talking about missing summer. Well I’ve looked everywhere and I just can’t find it. It’s not in the backyard – the grass is just all wet and kinda overgrown because the ground is soggy. It’s not inside because the heat has been on and mom goes about all bundled up with her fuzzy slippers on and everything. It’s not on anywhere I’ve looked at during our walks. The Dairy Queen is pretty dead, and no one wants to sit outside when it’s cold and wet. So I don’t know where it is. I heard on the TV that it might be in New York, but that’s awfully far away. So if there are any pups in New York that want to send some summer out to Oregon – I would like to put away my raincoat.

Uncle Kevin Visits

Uncle Kevin came over to visit yesterday. He’s a cool guy. He’s always feeding us stuff under the table, and BOY was there a lot of good stuff! There were potatoes, and potatoes with ketchup on them, and even pork chops – YUM. I think mom knew what he was doing since at one point I was sitting on her lap and he was still feeding me. Dad just rolled his eyes at us. I kept offering to clean the plates, but I was turned down. I don’t understand why they put so much good stuff in that bad ole garbage can when I’ll happily clean it up for them?

Then Uncle Kevin was tired and almost went to sleep in the armchair. I was a little confused. I thought that he wanted me to clean up. So I tried cleaning his face. Then after he fell asleep, I tried cleaning his bowl and found PIE & ICE CREAM! WOW! But mom took that one away from me pretty fast. She said something about how if this kept up I was going to put all of my puppy weight back on. HEY mom! That’s not very nice. I was never overweight, I just had puppy weight that I had to grow into. But I fell asleep licking berry pie off of my face – that stuff was really good. Uncle Kevin should come over every night!

Duck & Cover

Man my sis is just, well I won’t say it – but a female dog. I know that she doesn’t feel good, but that’s no excuse for taking it out on me. And boy does she ever. I can be asleep and she’ll bite me! I mean, what am I doing then? I’M SLEEPING – how can I possibly be bothering her then? I don’t even pug snore, well unless I’m on my back.

I know she got a hold of some bad stuff – like the time I ate that stuff in the backyard after Halloween. But I didn’t get all growly, I was just sick and wanted mom all of the time. I sure hope she cheers up soon, ‘cause my tush can’t take much more biting.

But mom’s been wrapped up with that. Still we did go to the pug crawl. It was SO hot though, I just wanted to sit in the shade, and that was some PRIMO real estate, what with all of the hot puggies, and most of them were really cute too. They had kiddie pools, and I decided I do not like them. They also started pouring out bags of ice and all the dogs started lying on the ice. We didn’t stay very long it was just TOO HOT. Natasha kept deciding that she didn’t want to walk, but then was too hot being held – make up your mind girl! But it was still fun to go and sniff all the girl pugs.

Whelp – I hope my sis is in a better mood soon. I’m just going to chew my chewies and try and stay outta her way.

Working and Shirt Hunting

I FINALLY got to go to work with mom yesterday. She had some reservations because she’s been having a hard time at work lately, but I convinced her that I could give her some pug support if necessary. Besides I can protect mom from all of the bossy people, I’m a good protector. Mom picked out my new MONSTER shirt for me to wear, so I felt really spiffy going out the door. Then we went through the coffee drive through. And they even noticed how good I looked, because they gave me a treat. When we got to work, I ran out and watered my special plant by the front door. After all I have to let all of the other dogs that come by know that this is MY workplace and they’re just visitors. And then I ran around inside to see if anything had changed – nope. Helped mom get started making coffee for everyone else, putting the faxes away and starting the morning reports. And then since we were SO early I got to play fetch in the hallway. It was really great. We don’t always get to do that. And sometimes the ball rolls off the top hallway and I have to run downstairs to get it. That’s super fun. The first time it does that mom has to help me, but after that – watch out, I’m really fast. When people started rolling in we had to stop, but that’s OK because I like to say hello to everyone. After that it was time for a little nap because all of that activity had me really tired out. Mom woke me up after a bit to get back in the car and go visit Auntie Maia. I LOVE Auntie Maia and got really excited when I saw her. Mom had a present for her to celebrate her engagement, so they were really excited too. Auntie Maia’s office has dogs too, but one of the dogs doesn’t like other dogs so I couldn’t go in today because Hanna dog gets too grouchy. So we just had fun celebrating in the parking lot. Then we had to go to a meeting, and that was OK because I got a lambs ear to chew on while mom talked. For lunch mom took me too the park blocks. They have some really HUGE trees there. We went by Lexi Dog in the Pearl and by Urban Fauna looking for a better shirt for me for the upcoming PugCrawl since my Monster shirt really stretched out to the point where it was unwearable. Mom says there are much more choices for girl dogs than boy dogs. That’s OK, I don’t mind letting it all hang out. So no joy there, and right back to work. And another nap for me while mom finished up her day. On the way home dad called and we ended up stopping by his work and Natasha was there with dad! And a really nice Corgi named Hedi. Dad works at a copy shop after his classes. It seems like a really nice place. We didn’t stay very long and then Natasha went home with us. Mom went to work feeding everyone once she got home and after that she kinda pooped out on the couch. After going a couple of rounds with Natasha I was happy to join her there until Dad came home. But that was pretty much it. Hopefully I protected mom from a bad day or made it a little bit better. And I know we’re going to find a good shirt before the PugCrawl, I just know it, or if we don’t – I don’t mind going nekid.

Ode to my Chewie Bone

So this weekend was SUPER busy. Mom and dad cleaned house and had people over. I got a brand new chewie bone, which I LOVED. Mom says it stinks, but I think it’s great. And it’s fabulous fun to leave it on the floor where mom and dad can step on it in their bare feet – they make such funny faces then, and then it’s like finding a new bone all over again. Only they say it’s so gross that they don’t want it on the couch with them and I really can’t bring it to bed, but I keep trying. I know the drop it command, but I’m working on my best sad pug face because one of those sneaky cats might steal it while I’m sleeping. I need to keep my paws on it even when I’m sleeping! The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is find my bone, it’s almost better than breakfast, (I did say almost.) Unfortunately, MY chewie is the only one that Natasha wants. HEY, I started it, I put all the work into getting it all soft and slimy – she needs to start her own. So whenever I have to stop chewing and go get a drink of water, and those things make you THIRSTY, I usually come back to find that she’s taken my special chewie bone and I haveta wrestle her to get it back. Totally no fair. There are tons and tons of chewies all over the house – pick another!

So anyway, I didn’t pay much attention to anything else going on. Just chewed on my really good bone. Heard a bunch of “Natasha, NO!” ha ha ha. That girl is always getting herself in trouble, she needs a good chewie bone, just not mine.

Toy DISASTER!

Wow what a busy day. Friday is our Lexi daycare day. I LOVE everyone at Lexi, they’re SUPER nice and when I go in the door I start BARKING up a STORM. After all I hafta let everyone know that I’m there. I can barely wait for my leash to be taken off before I shoot into the room and race around. After all there might be a treat or a b all forgotten in a corner, you never know. But as usual everything is perfectly clean – so I go around and say hello to everyone – and that takes some time. There’s a couple of new Chi’s and a new puppy too, so that starts off a really great chase game. Of course Natasha is faster than me. She’s ALWAYS faster so eventually I just stop and start barking until everyone stops. Then there’s treats to calm everyone down. And more greetings as more dogs come in. Eventually it’s nap time. Parents find it hard to believe, but they turn down the lights and everyone in the doggie daycare settles down and is calm if not laying down. After nap time it’s BATH time. I guess there were a lot of dogs that had to get baths because we got ours really late and there wasn’t a lot of drying time. Luckily it’s lots warmer out lately. When mom came to pick Natasha and me up we were STILL damp! That always makes me want to run around like crazy. When mom got us home I had to have a little tuck-butt chase around the house – just ‘cause.

But, we were running and playing and Natasha and I ran into our favorite tug toy – Santa Loofa dog. So we started playing and tugging on it….and it RIPPED! And this is a new one too. We had the old one forever before it ripped and this new one ripped the second time we played with it. Mom says she’s going to try and fix it. But I can SEE it on top of the table. I’m sure it’s OK now, we can play with it. I’ll just take a little stuffing out. If only I could reach it.

Jump, stretch…almost there...

Rx Pug Snuggles

Wow – mom came home early from work today. BUT, she didn’t feel good. She let Natasha and me run around for a bit and the we went to bed… IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY! Jeeze, that was so hard, there were all sorts of sounds going on outside but I knew that mom felt icky so I just curled up in my regular spot behind her knees. I know that it makes her feel better when I curl up next to her. Even Natasha knew that it was time to be quiet and curl up. Well, until dad got home. Then I had enough resting. And Natasha wanted mom to get up. I was trying to pull Natasha off the bed, but she was jumping all over mom. But I guess I had given her enough snuggles because mom felt well enough to get up and go on a short walk outside. We got to go up to Starbucks and say hi to everyone. But mom’s back on the couch now, so I better go and snuggle up to her. Never underestimate the get well power of pug-snuggles!

Thanks EVERYONE!

PHEW- it’s been hard keeping up lately. So many wonderful wishes for my pawday celebration from my dogster pals!

Thanks to Percy for the lovely Butterfly – it really feels like spring on my page now!

A BIG PUG HUG to Scooter & Misty for the totally fun kite & I’m NEVER growing up ;) Even if I am four now.

And Nicco – I totally agree, snacks are the best part. Mom had so much trouble snapping that new cupcake picture on my page because I wouldn’t stop jumping up and begging for the cupcake. It smelled SO good. Thanks for the red kite!

And a Snug-out goes to Mia, Teddy, Tara, Chester, Bruno, Yuki, Sandi, AND Dragon for the great ribbon! I got a squeaky ducky so it was totally a blue ribbon day!

And Mokey – you make the BEST cards!

And definitely not least, little Mojo, glad we’re pals too!

You would think that all of that pawday celebrating would’ve worn me out. But I’ve got pug stamina! I was all ready to go to work with mom yesterday. And boy was Natasha MAD about not going. She was sulky and barked at mom and everything. She wouldn’t even come when mom wanted to give her a hug goodbye. Jeeze, talk about a sore loser. But I had to wear my raincoat since it got all cold and rainy again. At least the sun came out for my pugday, even if it didn’t stick around. We went through the drive through Starbucks again, BUT they were out of dog treats. How unfair is that!?! Mom gave me some of the treats she brought with her, but it wasn’t quite the same. However, the lady in the window did say I was really cute. I swear, without Starbucks I don’t know if mom would get out of bed.

So I got to mom’s work and then I had to check out the bushes and give them a good once over because sometimes other dogs come by and I need to let them know this is my place too. And besides these little shrubs are just the right height for me. We go inside and I race around to see if there’s anything left on the kitchen floor and then RUN upstairs and wait for my slowpoke mom to open the office door. But this time, Natasha didn’t leave any good treats behind for me. Then starts the boring stuff. Mom starts working and I have to figure out something to do. I go downstairs to greet everyone as they come in, but eventually I get sleepy and convince mom that she can get just as much work done if I sleep on her lap. But I don’t sleep very long when Grandma Suzie shows up! Mom puts on her coat so I guess we’re going somewhere. We get in a different car and off we go. I’m a little nervous because I’m on mom’s lap instead of my comfy car seat so my footing’s not quite the same. But we take Grandma Suzie and Grandpa Jim to the airport and leave them there. I get a little scared when mom gets out of the car, but she gets right back in.

We go back to the office and I spend some more time greeting people & hoovering the kitchen floor. At lunchtime we get into mom’s car with my car seat, thankfully, and go out to the vet. I LOVE everyone at the vet, they’re so nice there and they always have treats. Mom finds out that I don’t have to have any bloodwork done since I just had it done in November and my liver is pretty much recovered from that bad food. Yeah – no poking, but they take me in back anyway and SQUEEZE MY TUSH! HEY THERE, that is totally inappropriate. Natasha is the one who gets her tushie squeezed, NOT ME! Just because mom caught me scooting on the bathroom rug the other day is no reason for this. There were treats, but now I’m stinky and mom rolled down the windows all the way to the office even though it was raining – phew.

When I get back inside, I go back and lay down under the desk and sulk a while, but mom gives me a lambs ear and that ALMOST makes up for what I just went through… ALMOST. Because, when I get home, Natasha won’t leave my tush alone – she’s smelling it, chasing it, biting it. Heck, what is it about my tush? Why is everyone so interested? I swear, Natasha can go to the office if this is what happens. I’m just going to sack out on the couch now and NOBODY better touch my tush!

Mom came BACK!

So mom was missing and I was very concerned, but dad did manage to convince me to go on a walk today. It was really nice outside. Today was one of the first days that it really felt like spring. It seemed like the whole neighborhood was outside. There were squirrels, and bikes and other dogs, and people in yards. So much to see and sniff. But it wasn’t the same as having our big weekend walk with both mom and dad.

But when we got back to the house. MOM WAS BACK. It was pawsome! And there were packages with FOOD in them to celebrate Natasha and my fourth pawday. I was just totally excited to have mom back with her mom lap. I tried to show her how happy I was to have her back and how I NEVER wanted her to leave again by sitting on her whenever she sat down. So she rested for a bit and I protected her, and my chewie by curling up right on top of her so I could see everything.

After mom rested Natasha and I got to open our presents. Mom wanted to put a new bandana on me, but I knew there was food to be had. Not even a new squeaky toy could distract me from ….PEANUT BUTTER CUPCAKE! Super YUM. I don’t know why I can’t have the whole thing, I don’t even have to chew it.

So I’m older now, and I guess that’s OK – as long as it comes with cupcakes. Oh, and mom and dad too.
