Arrival Story: Otis was rescued from an NYC kill shelter as an 8 wk old pup, by Hot Water Rescue. He had a home for awhile, but circumstances led him to HWR again, for a new home, when he was 18 months old. He was there when I needed him and he is now in his forever home!

Bio: I got Otis on a Friday afternoon. I took Monday off work so I would have a good 3 days to get him used to his new home. His previous family told me he was not crate trained, so when I went to work on Tuesday, I closed off the bedrooms and bathroom, giving him the kitchen/living room area to roam. I asked a friend to check on him around noon. I got a call at work around 12:30. Otis was gone. Yes GONE. I had a window air conditioner in the living room and he clawed his way out of the side (where the 'accordian' part fits the window) and left!!! The poor boy was now wandering around in an area he didn't even know. I left work as soon as I got the call and went looking. No Luck. I made posters and put them up all over. Got a few calls that he was spotted on a VERY busy, 4 lane road. How he didn't get hit by a car is a miracle, especially since he came from a very rural area. Each time I went to the locations where he was seen, he was never there. He got out on a Tuesday morning and by Wednesday night, I was giving up hope of ever seeing him again. Before I went to bed that night, I took one more look out on the back porch (where I had left a bowl of food) and lo and behold, there he was!!! I have no idea how he found his way back, but he did. I was overjoyed!!! Otis was then given an accelerated course in crate training and he's been happy and safe ever since.
We're working on his seperation issues and, although he still goes in the crate when I have to go out, I'm hoping that someday soon, he'll be able to be loose in the house, without putting his life at risk.

I've been tagged...by my Pup Pal MooMoo!
Each player starts with 7 facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their diary the rules and their 7 facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to send them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your diary.
My 7 facts:
1. I was born in NYC and left on the city streets to fend for myself. Thank DOG for Pit Bull Rescue.
2. I know the secret to getting out of a locked house. As long as there is a window air conditioner.
3. I love babytalk....
4. I HATE to be alone. But will put up with it, as long as I have a frozen Kong, stuffed with peanut butter and cookies.
5. I love to sleep in the big bed, under the covers if it's a little cold.
6. I love car rides and sit like a gentleman in the front seat. I NEVER hang my head out the window with tongue and ears flapping. How tacky!!
7. I have the most human-like eyes and expressions that you will ever see on a dog.
