pats, toys, pats, food, did I mention pats? Oh and licking Tracey's Ears :P!
being locked outside, being left at home, stupid humans eating infront of him
the cat (monty), tennis balls, and squeakies, Tracey's ears, my new buddy Kinta!
liver treats, cheese and those deli roll things (he literally does all the tricks he knows for one of those)
anywhere that involves running free, particularly with other dogs.
"bang" (play dead), beg, head tilting, shake, playbow, holding a treat on his nose and then catching it, covering your eyes, getting a drink out of the fridge and much more! Oh and the general obedience stuff.
I was looking 4 an Aussie after my last dog (A kelpie X) passed away. In Australia, Aussies are pretty new so there are limited breeders. I went to have a 'look' at a few litters in August, not intending to get a pup till December and came home with Leo after he spent the whole visit sleeping on my feet.
When Leo gets a little older, i'd like to compete with him in Agility, obedience, herding and possibly flyball and freestyle. Leo is also an accredited Pet Therapy dog and regularly goes to visit nursing homes.

Boy, It has been a while since I was in here last. Basically if you want to keep up on the happenings in my family, visit: http://www.aussienut.blogspot.com
I have been a very busy little fella. Mum and I have started competing in obedience and we have 2 passes toward my CCD title. We have also not passed a couple of trials, but that is because I get really stressed out in my stays. My mum and I have been working on that and she wants me to do really well next time. Problem is, Mum is funny in the ring - she smells so different and she looks really worried, so I tend to worry a little. She has always been really impressed with my work beforehand.... I LOVE heeling.
I have also been heavily training for agility, my favourite sport!!! Mum says i'm getting really good coz i'm picking up speed, but then, she sometimes chooses weird courses and I like to do it my own way!! Apparently we are going to a competition in this soon... I hope we do well.... that is if Mum can keep to the course that I want to do!
I have also been doing a fair few tricks. Mum says it is because the residents I visit like to see them, but I know that she loves teaching them to me and I love learning them! Sometimes, she doesn't give me any clues to what i'm supposed to do and I just have to figure it out! It is fun, but hard sometimes. Here is a clip of my best and latest trick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ytEwF91Rjs. We are working on putting Quoits onto a pole and I get so excited when this comes out! I've also learnt how to use this really cool machine where I hit a pedal, and if I hit it hard enough, a ball comes flying out!!! How COOL!!!
Recently mum added a new addition to our family - a cheeky imp of a black tri dog. She is pretty cool most of the time and good fun to chase around, but sometimes she just doesn't understand that a man needs some space and doesn't want to be pestered all day long! She cuts me off when I go and chase my toys sometimes which is annoying coz it slows me down and I want to catch that ball FAST! Her name is Kinta and I don't mind having her around. Another thing she does is push in for pats which really annoys me, as I get pushed away. Luckily Mum doesn't stand for that so I get extra pats if she does that ;)
Anyway i'll see you all around and talk to you later again :)

Well, it all started last night when mum told me that tomorrow at school we were going to do some flyball. I had no idea what that was, but it sounded like fun! All night I was wondering what it was. We got up at the usual time, and mum came outside to make sure I was awake. I knew we were going to school from the way mum was running around like crazy.. mentioning something about sleeping in. Don't know what that is... She quickly put me in the car (that thing scares me... sometimes it makes me sick.. but I like it better than I used to). As soon as we turned into the street, I knew where we were and started to get soo excited I couldn't sit still... FINALLY mum got me out of the car, but not before putting on my black dog halti.. I hate that thing, it itches and I have to rub, and rub and RUB! But, the strangest thing happened, after I said hello to all my friends and made sure everyone knew that Leo had arrived by barking.. we walked away from our usuall spot and went to this place where there were jumps and tunnels and stuff... I'd seen these before so I started to get really excited.. What was even better was that mum decided to take off my halti thing!!!! yay! since that was off and there was a Border Collie who said he wanted to play.. I started barking and running around coz it was soo much fun! Then mum got really excited and asked me to jump 'over' these things and to go 'through' the tunnel.. I told mum it was a sinch and she doesn't have to tell me these things - i've done it once before... I was sooo excited that when we finished I kept barking to tell mum to hurry up coz I wanted another go.. She said something about letting the other dogs have a turn, but i'm sure they weren't as excited as me. We also did something new.. dunno what they were called, but mum kept telling me to 'weave'. I know that word, but she didn't seem to want me to weave between her legs but rather these other things that got in the way..
Just when I was getting used to this agility thing.. mum told me that we were going again. I got to meet up with my friends in class again and we were around something new... the place where I see this dogs playing with tennis balls (my favourite) and chasing each other... kind of.. I had seen this every week when we were doing the boring obedience stuff and it takes all my strength not to chase them when we are doing our 'stays'. Just so mum knew that I approved of these new activities I started barking again, but she didn't seem too impressed. Mentioned something about 'selling me on ebay'. I think that was a compliment :). Then the excitement started... all these dogs owners started running away from them making funny noises and the dogs chased them... there were these funny white things that got in the way, and it seemed that the easiest way to get around them was to jump over... well.. the parents seemed pleased with that. SO just to tell mum that I understood and was willing to try, I kept barking... But she didn't understand coz all the other dogs were going before me.. so I kept barking. Finally, she handed me over to this guy and took off my lead - he was strong though, so as much as I pulled he wouldn't let me go :(. Then mum started jumping up and down and squealing like she sometimes does (i love it when she does that) and the guy let go - well you should have seen my fly! It was sooo much fun.... I told mum so, but she just kept telling me to be 'quiet'... honestly she is no fun!
It was seriously the best day at school eva! I hope we do the same next week :D, but she said somehting about a test soon and having to do other stuff :(
