Arrival Story:
We moved onto our acreage property...and I'd patiently waited for about 6 weeks without a dog - so, one Saturday while perusing the local newspaper, we spotted an ad for BC pups. My wife was greeted by a couple of fluff balls running across the grass....and we were definitely taking one home. Jack wasn't the pup that came to greet/play with us at first, but he was clearly the "crazy" one (I love a bit of insanity in my dogs)....and he was unbelievably fast for his age (he's unbelievably faster now!). His mum, dad and older brother - all working farm dogs - were there to see him off. Apparently, he was the first picked from the litter, but was returned a couple of weeks later because the folks who selected him could no longer keep him (quite possibly because they didn't know about the running at 200% nature of border collies). Unlucky for them but an absolute bonus for us - and Jack!

Bio:
What can be said? We love him to death! He's hilarious (hence "laughing boy" as a nickname)....and loves to learn new things. He's mastered all of the basics - come, sit, drop, stay, heel, up, off, come around and not eating until given the OK....oh, and shake hands...and sitting by the back door of the car when he knows we're going for a drive. He also knows the word "glove"...which means he's gonna be brushed (which he loves - and starts him "talking")...and then he gets to open his blue bag (the one on the table) and select one of the "special" toys. He enjoys getting rubbed just above his tail, behind the ears and on his tummy (in fact, anywhere...hence "pat whore" as an ancillary nickname) - unless he's in "work" mode - when he gives you the "don't pat me, just kick the ball, throw the frisbee etc." look. We can't wait to take him to agility and flyball training when he's old enough....so keep watching this space...

The leg's all fine now....

Daddy's been playing frisbee with me a lot lately.....and I don't want to come across all smug....but I'm pretty good at it!

Tuesday, I got a haircut.
It's SOOOOO... much cooler, but mum 'n dad reckon that I'm more "hyper" - whatever that means?

I'm soooo....bored!

Last Thursday, dad and I were playing with my soccer ball...and I had a little stumble on a stick coming out of a tree (mum and dad call it a "root").
I wanted to keep on playing but my back left foot was a bit sore. Daddy didn't want to keep on playing at all!

He and mum took me to see someone they call "Doctor Leigh"...and she put on this splint thing (and a silly red bandage)....but even worse, I've gotta wear this upside-down lampshade on my head.
It's OK though, because it makes daddy laugh....and I like it when he laughs.

Mum & dad keep on telling me "slow", and "it's only for two weeks" but they won't let me run anywhere.

I feel FINE mum and dad!

I just want to play!
