Arrival Story: Moving into an apartment for a year of college my parents gave me a checklist to get a guard dog. A few months earlier than expected I was in PetsMart getting food and the animal control was there trying to adopt dogs. She had been with them for 6 weeks -unheard of for animal control but she was extremely friendly, got along with other animals and was trained. Unfortunately she had been hit by a car at some point and her back leg had not been set. They estimated her at 6 years old. I had the vet check her leg and she was fine so arranged to pick her up that week after midterms and learned that she had been scheduled for euthansia in less than 48 hours. And after six months of apartment life we decided to move back home to the house with the big yard!
Bio: Hayley is my guard dog. No men are allowed near me that she doesn't trust. And when we got her she was trained but as soon as she met my God daughter she stopped listening to me and only listens to her. Taking her to a few vets all wanted to amputate the leg as it had swelled up from no activity for 6 weeks to lots of activity. We finally found a vet willing to save her leg and she's doing very well although shedoes limp a lot after long walks. We also had her age re-evaluated and she was only 2 when we got her.
A note: She loves getting dressed up and gets extremely jealous when I try to dress anyone else!
