Another seizure

Bailey had another seizure last night. It was around 9pm and Bailey had gotten into my bed and burrowed under the covers, which she usually doesn't do in my bed. When I went to bed she jumped up on the other bed and burrowed under the blankets of that bed. A few minutes later she came out and was walking in a circle on the bed and her right front leg went odd. Her pupils got very large and it was obvious she was having a seizure. The whole seizure lasted maybe 20-25 seconds. Afterwards she was very hot and needed to go outside. She slept very fitfully througout the night.

Another possible seizure?

Today on Bailey's walk she came upon a dog tied out in its yard. The dog started to bark at Bailey and Bailey started to bark back. She suddenly went very hoarse. Her rear legs got very shaky and collapsed and she fell over on her side. She kept trying to get herself back up and eventually did. She then started to reverse sneeze for a few minutes. My mom thought she was going to have to carry Bailey home, but Bailey managed to make it home on her own. Once home my mom looked at Bailey's eyes and her pupils were large but she was alert. The entire incident lasted just a few minutes.

I am not sure if this was a seizure or not, but it wasn't normal behavior for Bailey.

Bailey had a seizure

Last night we had some pretty rough storms going on. There was alot of rain and the lightning was hitting very close to the house.

Bailey has always been afraid of storms and once as a pup had a seizure when during a storm, a porch swing blew through the windows. That was many years ago and I didn't think it would still be an issue now.

She started out shaking, which is a normal response for her during a storm. Then she hid under the computer desk and kept repeatedly raising her rear legs, like her feet were bothering her. When she tried to walk into the living room her legs weren't working at all.

She climbed up on the chair with my dad. I looked at her and her pupils were huge. She didn't recognize her name and her head started bobbing and swinging back and forth like she was drunk. We kept her calm and cool because she was panting so heavily.

The whole episode lasted maybe 2 minutes, but it was very scary. I am hoping that every thunderstorm doesn't produce this effect in her. I am waiting for a call from the vet to see if there is anything we can do for her. Today she is slightly tired, but otherwise normal.

Biopsy results

Well, just a few hours before Bailey's surgery I discovered another lump. The vet did a pre-surgical aspiration on it and it too, was positive for mast cells. Bailey had both tumors removed and sent out for a biopsy. It was supossed to take two weeks to recieve the results, yet they were back in two days.

Both tumors are definetly mast cell cancer. It went further down into the tissues than we were hoping for. It was judged as stage 2. For now, we just keep checking her for lumps. Any more lumps will need to be removed ASAP. She doesn't need chemo or radiation unless the lumps are on a place that is inoperable. For now her organs are not affected, but of course that could always happen.

Poor Bailey is going to look like a "Franken-puggle" after all her surgeries. She is doing good though and really wants to start exercising again, but the vet says "No Way!" she is too stay a couch potato until the sutures come out. Its going to be a long two weeks!

The Big C

Well, the lump on my side isn't just a lump. Yesterday I went to the vet to have the lump looked at. After the vet took some of the liquid out of it, she called home. I have a Mast Cell Tumor. I have surgery on Tuesday February 10th to remove the tumor. The vet will send out the tumor to be biopsied to see what grade the cancer is and if further treatments will be needed. What a crummy vet visit! Hopefully, we caught it soon enough and everything will be fine.

My recent vet visit

Well, my vet visit went wonderfully on Thursday. First, I lost 3 more pounds! I am no longer Bailey Big Girlie! I am smaller than stupid old BoJangles now! Also, my heart murmur is undetectable now. I just have to keep up on my exercise and eating right and everything will be fine! I had to have my nails cut, I did start to bleed though. I need my nails cut every month but boy do I hate it! I also had to have my bum glands taken care of. That was super embarassing! The doctor put her fingers in my bum! She even did it in front of Winnie! It was so embarassing that my ears stuck straight out! Luckily, Winnie acted like she didn't see anything and she didn't mention it afterwards. (But she is partly blind so maybe she really didn't notice) The bad news though, Winnie still has cooties! Ever since she came from the shelter she has had cooties and she gives them to us. Then we have to have that horrible medicine put on our backs and it smells and its runny and I hate it. It makes me crazy! Oh well, I don't think they are getting rid of Winnie. I just wish her cooties would go away.

Sam

The old guy, Sam, has died. He died a month ago, but it was just too sad to try and write about it. Sam was having problems for awhile, but we weren't sure what the troubles were. They took him for some x-rays, and he never came home.

I remember how as a puppy I would terrorize him. I liked to pull his bum hair, he had alot of it, and his neck hair. I would grab on to his hair and not let go, and he would run down the hallway with me attached to him! But, no matter how rough I got, and I was a very bad puppy, he never hurt me back. He was so patient and just put up with my craziness.

Once Sam started losing his sight, he would always get very close to me and sniff my eyes. It made me very nervous, but I let him do it. He was a gentle old man.

I guess I am in charge of the house now. I am not as brave as Sam, he was the bodyguard for everyone.

My recent troubles

My last vet visit was a huge disaster! First, the vet detected that I have a heart murmur. She said it is nothing to worry about now, but boy am I glad that I lost a little weight! It would be tough to be as plump as I was and have a heart condition. I have to keep it monitored and go to the vet every 6 months to have it rechecked. Then, they gave me my shots, which hurt. After I got home I got very itchy. Then I started swelling. Then, it got a little hard to breathe. So, they had to rush me back to the stupid vet and I had to get more shots. This time though, it was in my bum. Those shots HURT!! I screamed and jumped and then my leg started to swell. I couldn't sit down on my bum for awhile. But at least my face stopped swelling and I could breathe. Now every time I go for shots I have to have the bum shots. What a nightmare! I hate the vet!

Troubles

I went to the dog park last week and my friends noticed I was peeing blood. I had to go to the vet to see what the problem was! They arent too sure, but I may have bladder stones. I would have to have surgery, again! I hate surgery. They put me on medicine to see if it clears up, but when I go back in a few days I may need some x-rays to see how my bladder is. On a positive note though, I lost another 2 pounds! I am officially at 29 pounds. I weigh as much as my stupid baby brother! I need to lose about 4 or 5 more pounds and hopefully that will come off just as quick!

Girls day out

Today my roomies took me out for a girls day out! I needed a break from the boys, they can be so obnoxious! I got to go to the pet store and I had to be weighed to see how the diet is going. I am now officially 31 pounds! I am so proud! I am down a total of 5 pounds. I still have a way to go but I am sure I will make it! I have much more energy and I actually like playing with my little brother (sometimes)! I also got to go to the supermarket but I couldn't go in because of some stupid rule. Little do they know I am cleaner than half of the people that shop there! Whatever. Now it is time for a nap.
