Arrival Story:
We went to River Bend Farm Kennels in Falmouth, MA to pick up a collar for our first Greyhound, Ollie. We asked to see the Greyhounds that were up for adoption, and when Cherry saw us, she acted like we were her owners , and that we were finally there to pick her up. She won us over immediately, and we brought her home two days later.

Bio:
She is a retired racing Greyhound, who was only about 2 years old when she was slated to be put down. Her personality won over the vet where she had been taken, who contacted the rescue group in Falmouth, who came immediately and picked her up. We think that part of the reason she was being put down at such a young age, was because she probably wasn't that good a racer, given her insatiable curiosity. She likes to spend hours sniffing anything and everything, and probably couldn't have made it around the track even once without stopping to sniff things.

Update::
Update: Cherry, one of the dearest dogs who ever lived, lost her battle with cancer on Thur, Sept 14, 2006, at the age of almost 14 1/2. We will miss the wonderful joy she brought to our lives, her silly, quirky ways which always made us laugh, and the comfort of her lying next to us in bed. She was one of those special dogs who comes along maybe only a few times in one's lifetime. In the twelve and a half years she lived with us, she touched our lives profoundly, and she will live in our hearts forever.
