Arrival Story: I picked out Maximus in August 2003 while I was stationed in Belgium from another American that was breeding JRT's. Max was the biggest of the litter and the 2nd overall pick. He had a brother with spots over both eyes that went 1st. I brought Max home in September and we were instant friends. I enjoy having a JRT because of their energy and intelligence. He is always ready to go for a walk, run or long hikes in the woods or mountains. He is also very protective and jealous when it comes to me, As my wife has come to learn. He always feels he needs to be in between us if we are too close. He's almost as bad as a parent chaperone at a dance. But Max is a wonderful Dog and friend. Me and my wife love him and are even considering a 2nd JRT. Maybe a female in a year or so.

Bio: When I was 6 Months old, my owener had to leave town for a few weeks and I was over at some friends visiting while he was gone. One morning, my friends children were late to school and ran out the door to catch the bus. I just being a puppy chased after them and was able to make it out the door before it closed. I ran after them and didn't know just how dangerous crossing the street can be. I was hit by a car and had my front right paw ran over. My owners friends quickly took me to the doctor and called my owner. My owner had a tough decision to make, he could have me put to sleep, amputate my leg, or have me go through 2 surgeries to save my paw. My owner decided to have the surgeries, which must have been expensive because he told me I better live to be 20 or save his life for repayment. I now just turned 2 years old and my paw is as good as ever. I can still run and jump with the best of them.

I love the times when I go somewhere new for a walk. Last week, my owner took me for a walk at a local wildlife refuge and boy was that exciting! During our walk we unexpectedly walked up on a Bull Moose grazing. My owner decided to slowly back away and keep our distance, but you know how Jacks are. I wanted to go up to him and introduce myself, but I had to observe from a distance. Not more than 30 minutes later after seeing my first moose, we walked up on a herd of deer, again I wanted to go and meet them. Okay go chase them! But my owner wouldn't let me off my leash to do so. We ended up walking for about 3 hours that day and I even had some new pictures taken of me. I hope we get to walk in the forrest soon before it starts snowing and it gets too cold.

My owner would say that I am a mischievious little &*)&. But he just doesn't realize that I'm a Jack and I do what Jacks do best....Keep their owners on their toes at all times! Today he left his lunch on the coffee table and again I felt compelled to teach him a lesson. Never leave food unattended in easy reach of a Jack. But then food on a coffee table is an easy task, on the table or counter at least requires some kind of skill. And we all know what kind of skill that is, Jumping, cus that what jacks do. So back to the story, he scolded me and called me a bad dog. But I was just teaching him a lesson.
