Tomas was from Garland Ridge in Carmel Valley. Just before we were scheduled to visit the litter and help socialize them, we learned that a set of adoptive parents had dropped out, and a pup would be available. So we were able to bring this beautiful, sweet baby boy into our home.
Tomas was one of six boys, and the only one with freckles. One of his brothers, Cutter (CH. Swiss Stars Black Diamond I), is a champion! Mother Willow is such a believer in Swiss precision that she delivered another litter on the boys' first birthday, this time all girls!
At 5-1/2 years, Tomas was diagnosed with bone cancer. He lived 10 months as a tripod, continuing to play hard, eat well and work as a therapy pet and bringing joy to all who knew him. As dog #17, he participated in a ground-breaking inhalable chemo study at the UC Davis vet school the last six months of his life. The study shows promise for treating cancer in kids as well as dogs.
