The Life as the Chief

To my loving son,

I just wanted to let you know not a day goes by that I do not think of you. You will always be in my heart and I know you realized how much I love you. No other dog could EVER replace you! I know you are still around because I can feel your love. I will be busy and all of a sudden catch a sudden whiff of your smell. I hear your scratches at the back door, I hear you stepping on your sisters book playing "Oh where Oh where has my little dog gone".

I know you are helping me find your sister, Ember. Everytime I see you, something wonderful always happens. I want you to guide her and help her out when she comes. She will need all the help she can because she is stepping into some really big paw prints left by you.

Your other sisters, Pudgie and your two-legged sister Jessica miss you too. Jessica still looks out of the back window waiting to see you come running to her. Pudgie still sleeps on your bed and loves on your statue.

But nobody misses you the way I do. I hope I did not make you suffer while you were here. I am glad you held on long enough for me to be with you at the vets office. It broke my heart the day you left but it would have killed me if I was not there with. You are and always will be "Mamma's Heart".

I love you son!

It is with a heavy, broken heart that I say I had to put my beloved son to sleep. He had a battle with bladder stones and on 10/26/06 his bladder ruptured and the most humane thing I could do was to relieve his suffering since it could not be repaired. Chief had just did his yearly fire prevention for the kids of the elementary school. He did his stop drop and roll trick about 20 times that day for the 520 kids. He will be greatly missed by everyone in this community but by his mother mostly.

Well, I got to lead the firetrucks in the Christmas parade. The sirens didn't bother me at all. I just hated that I didn't get to stop and play with every single kid that was there. Mom wouldn't let me eat the candy that was in the road either. I did embarass her though. I decided that I needed to use the bathroom in the middle of the parade and in the middle of the road. Everyone laughed and cheered me on. Thankfully I could still use the "I'm cute and I'm a puppy" excuse.
