Arrival Story:
My wife had wanted a Shar-pei for a long time. She spotted an ad for pups in our local newspaper and after a bit of coaxing she convinced me to agree to go see them. The puppies were sooo cute I knew she was getting one. We picked him out because he snuggled right into her arms when she picked him up (Hence the name). We drove the long drive home with him wrapped in a blanket (Still the "blankie" he loves today). Then the TERROR began, he was a typical puppy as rambunctious as you could imagine and he didn't know how dangerous his little puppy NEEDLE TEETH could be. He decided that HE was the new boss. I must say that he never was whiney for his mother, he adopted us right away and took over. That was not to last! After sleeping on the couch away from his deadly spear teeth I spent a few days convincing him as gently as possible that his days as boss were numbered. My wife and I clearly remember two big days in his life. The first is when he found out that he in fact was not the big dog in the house. I think once he realized that he wasn't boss he was ok as long as my wife was not above him. His place as number two is fine with him as he gets to be number one when I am out (Sitting in my spot etc etc). He obviously feels the need to protect his family, especially when it's just him and my wife home. The second was the day he realized that his teeth were hurting the people he was puppy gnawing on. Snug immediately switched over to giving kisses! He has a very expressive face, and his tail always gives away how he feels. He is very happy dog. He loves people and other dogs and cats. He doesn't care much for squirrels though, they tease him and he knows it. This is getting a bit beyond the story of his arrival so on to the next section!

Bio:
A poem about our boy, Snuggles! - - - - In Spring When Snug came home with us - A little bundle of wrinkles - We did not know he was made of gold - Until his eyes did twinkle. - - He's not a puppy, no not at all - He is our little boy - And we have grown to love him so - He fills our hearts with joy - - He's almost 2 now the time has flown - His wrinkles have all spread out - But the sparkles he gives us with his eyes - Fills our hearts without a doubt - - He loves to play and rip up stuffing - He shakes his head so fast - But we dont mind, he has such fun - To us he is a blast - - Some may smirk and jokingly think - He's just a dog, don't they see? - But we don't mind, they don't know Snug - He's a natural at Tai-Chee!

Snuggles passed away today. It was very sudden. I know he's in heaven playing with his favourite toys.

We'll miss you dear friend.

Well our boy Snug is almost 4 years old now. He's still our best friend and a wonderful companion. He loves it when we whisper sweet talk in his ear. He will sit for hours and hours getting little scratches and smooches and he loves to give them back.
