RIP DeAnza 1999-2006

My dear Deanza passed away on November 8.

the goddamned cone

When, oh when am I ever going to be freed from my cone???? I admit that the minute that the Queen Bee removes it, I sneak off to a corner and chew my left foot until it bleeds. I guess she is scheduling me for more cortisone shots to help alleve my obsession.

A bit of sad news - my sibling, David, had to be put down a few weeks ago, I just found out from his master. David and I were both trained to be Canine Companions for independence dogs and we both passed the test with flying colors about 12 years ago. We have both been working for our deaf owners until about four or five years ago, I think maybe David worked longer - Queen Bee let me retire sooner because of my arthritis and eventually my hearing started to go. I guess David had really bad back problems and then his hind legs couldn't move.

I guess I am lucky - I have my allergies (and this goddamned cone) but I still have my mobility. And Queen Bee still occassionally takes me to the park when I am not so tired (grass makes my feet itch). I am sorry David is gone but I suspect he will be waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge.

New beds!!

me an' sweet pea got new fuzzy beds today, yay! Tazzie gutted my old stinky one, and this one looks like it will be more cozy - I love that fuzzy fake lambskin. I pulled the tag off myself which was fun. too bad they don't put sqeakers in our beds.

what is Tazzie's problem??

He has this whip like tail that hits me in the face. I hate that. My tail is neatly out of the way.

And what is his problem with guys? I love guys - girls are ok but guys are cooler because they didn't discipline me in Service Dog School, I only had women as teachers. and my Queen Bee is a woman too so she is obviously in charge. But guys man, they let me do anything I want. They feed me at the table, they can throw the ball further. Some of them get a little too close for comfort (like QB's friend Brino, who picked me UP - put me down!!)

Queen Bee has decided to put us all on Dogster - I guess thats ok - I am getting up there in age and doing well this year although last year I went through a bad patch. Lots of allergies and other old dog stuff has set me back somewhat but lately I am doing pretty well - the last shot I got seems to help a lot and the food I am getting seems to alleviate my allergies. Tazzie's been getting on my nerves but everytime I snap at him to leave me alone, Sweet Pea comes to his defense which is frustrating to both me and Queen Bee. I mean for chrissake, he's the one thats bugging ME. this is a strange new doggie thing for QB and if anyone knows what this means it would be helpful to hear from others.

Other than that I am doing amazingly well for such a senior dog.
