Birthday: January 11th 2004 Likes: the laser pointer, riding in the car, meeting new people, playing with doggie pals, toys, and dripping water EVERYWHERE after drinking Pet-Peeves: when Dakota is getting attention, when Dakota takes too long to eat, when she can't go chase rabbits in the yard, and the vacuum Favorite Toy: laser pointer, sister Dakota, screeching monkey, squeaky bone Favorite Food: Pinnacle Duck and Potato, veggies (not onions!!), any treats, and "vacuuming" the flo0r after we eat Favorite Walk: Anywhere--especially if she has to take a ride in the car to get there! Best Tricks: head-tilts, "hit the deck", and "snappies" Arrival Story: Kiya was a cute, fluffy, little stray puppy trying to come into the school where I used to work. After a good bath and a trip to the vet she was a new member of the family--my first dog ever (and I was hooked!) She began informal training to maybe be a police K-9, but she was a little too ADHD to stay focused for long periods! She still knows her commands and will search everywhere for drugs when told to. Bio: Kiya has a "step brother" named Semper (a hypoallergenic Siberian cat) and a "step sister" named Dakota (a pure bred german shepherd). Kiya loves to wrestle and chew with Dakota and to chase Semper when he taunts her. She also likes to play with her "cousins" Shadow and Krystal. In March of 2007 she was diagnosed with Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia and we were scared she was not going to pull through. If you do not know about this horrible disease, check it out and learn the warning signs. Luckily we caught the signs early and Kiya was quickly put on a lot of medication to help keep her body from destroying her red blood cells. She did very well on the medicine and has had wonderful blood tests ever since. Boy, that was a close one!! Forums Motto: I'm a big teddy bear! I am so spoiled. I love to lounge on the couch, usually on my back with my giant paws up in the air. I really am a big dork! I also sleep on the bed with my parents. I let them share the space with me--usually. I really do think I am just their furry child. I follow them everywhere I can and I try to make them either play with me or pet me when they are trying to do other stuff. Oh...I am really spoiled and CUTE!!
