Scratch Scratch

I've been having a devil of a time lately with my skin. Really dry and itchy. I leave little tufts of hair all over, especially after B&T vacuum. It's weird because i had a grooming appt. last week. Man i was shiny and fluffy, looking good. B&T invited me up on the bed, which they never do.

The little boy is walking and we're getting along swell. In the morning, I like to sniff his hair and endure his light taps on my face. I wag my tail the whole time. The highlight of my day--after the walks that is--is when he eats. He likes to break me off a little something something, usually apple. It's distracting to B&T, so they kick me to the other room during his supper. But when he's done, they let me out and I do cleanup crew, licking up all the juicy bits of food that have fell on the floor. I think I'll start charging for this extra service.

Spring is here and B&T were doing some backyard maintenance. With all the blooming, the new blossoms bring a lot of bees and my job is to snap at them. Well not really, but it's built into my DNA. Anyway, I got too close and got stung! Ouch it hurt. I think it was near my ear because i was scratching it, rolling around, brushing against the ground. I was disoriented, too. T. got a little concerned but got my mind off of it by bringing out the CD. I snapped out of it and chased the sunny reflection. So I'm OK now, and am back on bee duty.

Happy Lunar New Year everyone! The family is good, I've been enjoying the time with the little one who finds me endlessly entertaining. My herding instincts will go nuts when he starts walking! It's the year of the dog, celebrate!

New Member of the Fam

Hello friends. It's been quiet around cyberspace but not around here. I haven't been corresponding because B&T are new parents! A new boy entered our home on July 14. So things have been chaotic. I was present when B. was going through active labor and I even jumped on the bed to lick her face during a particularly gnarly contraction! I'm a soother like that!

I love having the people and visitors around. B's mom was in town for two weeks and faithfully walked me every day. I just kick it, smell baby's hair and toes and go about my business. T still takes me to the soccer field and gives me walks at night. So to me, I'm handling the change quite well. Holla!

Fresh from the salon

I had my first grooming session today. T. dropped me off at 8am. I did NOT want to be there! I was pulling away, but to no avail. The groomer took me by the leash and lead me to the back. I got a flea shampoo, nail trim, blow dry, cologne, ears cleaned and my anal glands expressed! They also clipped around my legs, ears, stomach and hoo-hah. I feel refreshed! I survived my first dog groom experience and it went well.

The lady said i was "pretty good" which means I'm welcome back. So I found out what "anal glands expressed" means and it doesn't involve overnight delivery. They stick two fingers on each side of my chocolate starfish and squeeze, releasing any pent up digested kibble. What a pro! I felt Nutro Beef from Feb. pass through my corn hole. The least she could do is buy me a drink first!

T. picked me up at 1:30pm and i wagged my tail & pranced up to him. I had enough of all these other dogs and cats getting done up; I needed my space! So now I'm home, with a lot of pent up energy. Can't wait to see them and get rid of this fruity ribbon. Holla!

Hair of the Dog

I'm a shedding fool! I'm prepping my bodice for a summer coat and making a mess. When I scratch and rub against the couch, it's like a paper shredder. When T. vacuums, he has to empty the container two or three times. B. brushes me every day and I give up at least three huge piles of hair. I've been waking up at 5-6am just to groom myself. I make too much noise so they boot me from the room until they wake up. They should have known this--we small long-haired breeds love our grooming.

Tomorrow, I may be going to my first dog grooming appointment. Flea dip, shampoo, ears, nail clip and something about "expressing anal glands." Sounds like fun! Holla!

birfday

I neglected to tell you. For B's birthday, I surprised her with a visit to her work. T tied a balloon around my neck, picked up lunch, and drove me to the community college she works at. She was so excited! She took me all over the campus, made me meet her bosses and friends. I was kinda nervous but whatever. It was fun. This weekend I got two trips to the soccer field. Ran around a bunch in the warm sun, cooled in the shade of a tree and bleachers. I crashed out early each night. Holla!

long weekends are good

I love the Memorial Day weekend. I get to hang out with the people and sniff the ground for dropped food. It's my territory. Food lands on the ground, no matter what it is, BAM! Like Emeril. I'm on it. When T. is on the grill outside, I sniff so much around the grill, my nose smells like marinade and charcoal.

I walked to the Farmer's Market and went to two BBQs. I took a bath yesterday. I was getting the funk and looking scraggly. The bath did me good. Does anybody else use that lavender dog shampoo from Trader Joe's? It's the best! A little conditioner after and I'm soft and sweet smelling like a fruity spa pillow. I slept in today after all the action over the weekend--i deserved it.

T pointed this out to me today. It's my original "Adopt Me" page. He saw it over a year ago and was smitten--how could he not? I'm fly like that. I'm happy to report that I still have timid issues with other dogs. Why I rolled up on a black lab today and growled. Grrr. So fierce looking.

Weather Report

Today, it's overcast. Which sucks for me. I've been enjoying the past couple of days of sunshine. California is supposed to be sunny, damn it! I had a longer than usual walk this morning. I ran into Frankie, a dog of disreputable origin (a mutt) and we had a brief smell session. I didn't lunge at him, I'm getting better! I relaxed and shot the log with Frankie.

I had a bath on Sunday and already I'm starting to smell fonkay. Maybe I need to change my deodorant? Holla!
