Birthday:
December 18th 2004

Likes:
To play with toys (especially fetching tennis balls) and to be chased by other dogs; to go bye-bye, especially if it involves a ride in the car; laying at our feet; treats, especially if it's something one of his daddies is eating

Pet-Peeves:
To be moved while sleeping, being in direct sunlight, being sprayed with water or rained on, to be left at home when anyone leaves the house; the word "no"; when I work too much

Favorite Toy:
Tennis balls and anything that squeaks, so he loves tennis balls that squeak; stuffed monkey; anything one of his daddies is willing to throw for him to fetch

Favorite Food:
Nawsomes, freeze-dried salmon, Frosty Paws, liver snacks, Science Diet Lamb and Rice

Favorite Walk:
Around our neighborhood

Best Tricks:
Catching balls and anything else thrown to him, fetching particular toys on demand (i.e. rope or ball), jumping high straight off the ground

Arrival Story:
Although we purchased Conley, we think of it as a rescue story because we purchased him from an unscrupulous Lab breeder who claimed he was selling us a Lab/Shepherd mix. It didn't take us long to realize that wasn't what we got, but when we called to ask the breeder what type of dog he had sold us, he denied ever selling us any dog at all, and disclaimed that he was even a breeder. Needless to say, that leaves lots of questions about Conley's background, but will have no impact on his future ability to be pampered and showered with love by everyone who meets him.

Bio:
Conley loves to go for rides in the car. If anyone gets near the front door or touches car keys, he jumps up and goes to the door. He sits straight up in the seat of the car looking out the window, and at almost every red light people in other cars are pointing at him or talking to him as he sits there. He loves meeting new people also, and will jump straight up in the air to greet them if I don't remember first to tell him to stay down (that's a Wheaten characteristic so I'm told). Conley has 2 older sisters, Isis (a ten-year old angora cat); Kayla (a two-year old Lhasa Apso); and, one older brother, Fozzy (a four-year old Persian cat).

A Day With My Pals

Yesterday one of my daddies and I spent the day with my two new friends, Woody and Stella (Woody is a member of Dogster, and now that my daddy told Stella's keepers about it, Stella will be on Dogster soon too). We had a great day, but I sure was tired when I got back home.

First, we all met at a small park to make sure we could all get along. After showing our keepers that there was nothing to be worried about, we all loaded into an Explorer for our day's adventure. We went to Martha's, a dog-friendly restaurant in Hermosa Beach, but there was no place to sit, so all the humans ordered food to go, and we were on our way to the next stop.

Next we went to the Redondo Beach Dog Park. But, before we got to go inside and play, my daddy and his human friends sat down at a picnic table in a nearby park and ate their lunch. Boy were Stella, Woody, and I eager to get to the park, and it sure seemed like those humans were taking their time eating those sandwiches and salads. Eventually they finished eating and off to the Dog Park we were.

The Dog Park wasn't as busy as usual, so the three of us were able to play in the back part of the park where it is grassy, without being distracted by all the other dogs. Even though all three of us canines were of varying sizes and breeds, we all had a great time chasing one another around the park, and, again, there were no incidents between any of us, or with any other dogs (even when Stella, who has an possessive obsession with toys, found a random ball here or there to play with).

When we were done playing at the Dog Park, we headed off to UShampooch in Redondo Beach for a self-serve bath. We got baths so we'd be nice and clean for the ride back home. Woody picked out a new leash and collar, and Stella and I also got new toys.

After our baths, sadly the day was over, and it was time to go back to my daddy's car and then on home, where my other daddy anxiously awaited for me to come back. But, before I let Stella and Woody disappear back out into the world, my daddy delivered to each of their keepers "goodie bags" that he and I created for Woody and Stella. Everyone liked their bags, and I'm glad that daddy and I spent hours on Saturday buying things to put in them (my daddy even surprised me when we got back home and gave me a goodie bag too). Our bags were filled with my favorite treat, Nawsomes; rawhides of various sizes; freeze-dried salmon treats; plush and plastic toys; a grooming brush; a gift card to Petco; and other assorted treats, toys, and goodies.

All in all, we had a great day, and we're all looking forward to Stella's birthday party so we have an excuse to get together to play again.
