Rainy days

We finally got this year's dog pass for DuPage County parks. So we went over to Mayslake and ran until my legs could no longer hold me up! It was raining the whole time, but there were a bunch of other dogs there to play with me. Not bad for January in Chicago! I went home and slept all day. I was even too tired to chase the cats.

Sorry it's been awhile! Not much new around here, except I have been busy with dog camp and dog obedience class. We went to Camp Dogwood a few weeks ago just for a day to try it out. It was such a blast! We tried lure coursing, where I got a little too excited and kept running straight after the first turn. I went halfway around camp before I realized mom wasn't following me any more and I came back. We also tried rally obedience, which was pretty fun. We did a trick training class and recall class and played some games at the beach with the other campers. Then I came home and slept for 2 days straight. I just started my canine good citizen class, and I am being a little naughtier than usual. So we'll see how it goes... we might need 2 tries to pass!

Dog Class

Today was my last day of dog class. When I started I didn't know anything. I was a maniac on the leash, didn't know sit, stay or come, and just wanted to play with the other dogs. Some of the class were scared of me at first because of my breed, but I have won them over and now they love me. I never once barked or growled or jumped on their dogs (or them). I did lick them a lot when they petted me.

Last week, we played musical "chairs", where we had to walk around while the music was playing and sit when it stopped. Everyone got eliminated except me and a little cockapoo. I was a little nervous, since Oreo's butt is only about 2 inches off the ground, but I won the contest!

Now I know how to sit, stay (kind of), come, "leave it", walk more politely, and shake (learned at home). Now I'm ready for an advanced class, and maybe eventually I can take the Canine Good Citizen test.

4th of July

Yesterday we went to a friend's house for a BBQ and fireworks. Someone brought an 8 month old Golden named Lola, and we ran around for hours and hours. Lola was a little naughty and smashed some flowers and dug up some lawn, but I was a perfect angel. Well, I may have chased her into the flowers and supervised her digging. I didn't mind the fireworks for awhile, but then it got a little annoying. I loved all of the attention from the other guests, and especially from Lola. I slept all night and didn't get up until 3 in the afternoon. I haven't had that much exercise in a long time!

Road Trip

June 18th, 2005

We went on a road trip to Springfield to visit some human friends. They had a big fenced yard and a few little kids that would not leave me alone! I had a blast! They gave me lots of hugs and kisses and ran around the yard with me. I even loved it when they dressed up as Darth Vader and hit me with their light sabers! I was so worn out I slept the entire 3 hours home.
