She loves playing basketball - in fact, she is obsessed! Her favorite sleeping position is to be wrapped up in a down throw on the couch (see last photo) - like she's inside her own volcano. Hence the name Volcano Girl (who remembers Verucca Salt?)

Arrival Story:
Minnie was used as a breeder in a puppy mill and was confined to a cage most of her life. All of her front teeth are worn down to the gums from chewing on the bars. We found Minnie on her last day of 'death row' at the Houston City Pound. She was heartworm positive. had chemical burns on her face and one eye, and she only weighed 11 pounds. My husband spent half of a day there trying to talk the staff into releasing her to us so she could be treated, but their policy is to euthanize if the animal has heartworms-even if a loving family wants to provide the treatment! Finally, a wonderful lady with a rescue group who had 'pull' privileges came to our aid and helped us get Minnie out! She underwent heartworm treatment with flying colors and she is the most wonderful, affectionate dog we could ever imagine! Minnie now weighs a healthy 18 pounds and is a star athlete!
