Arrival Story:
Fresca was my second foster dog I got her in late November 2003. For some unkown reason no one ever showed any interest in her at the adoptions. In Feburary 2004 she began to have potty issues in the house. Finally the vet diagnosed her with Diabetes Insepidus. The condition causes her to drink lots of water, and to put it plainly she basicly urinated straight water. The medication was $150 per month. The shelter took care of everything and I searched for cheaper meds. Finally I found that it was availible in a pill, and that cut the cost to around $60 per month. Now people were showing interest in her, but ran at the cost of meds. By this time we were nearing September, and she was getting very grouchy at the adoptions. By mid september I had officially adopted her. My husband wasn't thrilled with the idea, but I told him to deal, that she was my birthday present.

Bio:
Fresca was a surprising rescue. The question has always been, "Why had she never been claimed?" When I got her she was completely housbroken, could sit and shake. And on a lighter note, she has been cleared from my vet of having Diabetes Insepidus and has been med free since November 2004.

All is well.

It's been a while since we found out I have kidney problems. All is well since I have started eating Eukanuba Early Renal. It was tough getting the right feeding amount. I am so active I get more food than anyone else, even though I am the smallest. And all is not lost. Mom has searched high and low for special treats I can have. I get Jumbones now in place of Greenies, and the vet said a rawhide chip was okay every now and then. Mom also found an extremely tastey training treat. They're called Obey, and we all will do anything for them. We have also been informed mom is bringing a new kitten home. Dad is really mad. Mom said get over it, he has already had his surgery and it's too late now. He was going to be put to sleep if no one took him. Mom made a deal with another lady, if she took the female, then mom would take the male. I can't wait to meet him. Mom's having trouble coming up with a name.

Life is Ruff!!!!!

Well a lot has gone on since my food gorge. Mom has gotten all new fancy food bins that no one can figure out how to get into. I had my first seizure about a month ago. How scary!!!!!!! Mom says I bit her on the arm trying to go after Jesse. I thought Jesse was going to hurt me. I was REALLY Sorry!!!!!! The next morning mom took me to work with her to get a lot of bloodwork done(she works for a vet). The doctor said everything was ok, nothing to explain why I seized, but my creatine levels were high. I had to be rechecked in a week. Upon the recheck there was no improvement. The next step was special Kidney food. Oh how my life has gotten so boring. Mom is super strict with my new diet. Special food, and special treats only. Say good by to the occasional pizza crust, or cookie. I WILL NEVER GET TO TASTE A GREENIE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't understand it. Why is this happening to me? I am so young. I hope this food works. I can still live a long life. I know my mom and dad will spare no expense trying. Oh, How deeply I am loved!

A day at the race.

Now don't let the title fool you. I didn't go to the race, my mom & dad did. Against their better judgement, I got to stay out of the crate along with my sister, Cleo(Who never has to go in the crate it might add!!!). I saw this lovely afternoon as an opportunity. My other sister, Spice has taught me this neat trick. She can open the food bins, as long as mom hasn't put a lock on it. She keeps the bottom bin locked all the time, but spice showed me how to carefully open the bin on top, and not knock it over so that you don't draw even more attention. So what did I do while mom was gone. Well I raided the food of course. I ate to my hearts content. My belly is so full, my mom laughs at me and says I look like i'm pregnant. My belly is as hard as a rock. I didn't think of that before I gorged myself. Mom wouldn't feed me dinner last night, and it doesn't look good for breakfast this morning either. Mom says I have to wait for the food to pass. If I eat more it could cause problems, and I don't want to go to the emergency clinic. But I guess that's okay. I'm not alone. Last night Spice got to stay out. Her and Cleo raided the bin while mom and dad were sleeping. Mom says she's going to look for new ones today.
