Well, it used to be the flashlight (or laser pointer), but since he's gone blind, tearing the skin off of tennis balls, swimming and eating! …and being grumpy
Wunjo doesn’t like folks on roller skates or skateboards (basically, if you glide, you’re an enemy); also, people that want to interact with him (we’ll have none of that!) and having Brandon snap at him when he walks a little too close!
Used to be out Edgewood Ave. out in Mill Valley, then Fire Road in Woodacre, Muir Beach and the big hill at Point Chauncy in Tiburon, now the big huge field (our back yard) in Novato
Wunjo knows no demeaning "tricks" - however, he'll close the door for you!
I had been wanting to get a dog for a long time, and finally my partner and I decided that the time was right. We went to the Humane Society (where we wanted to rescue ALL the dogs) and finally came upon the only puppy in the place in a huge pen filled with shredded newspaper. He was just about 10 weeks old, and they had found him abandoned in the street about three weeks before (around the beginning of March). I climbed in and sat down, he came up to me, put his paws up on my shoulders and started licking my face, and that was it!
In the summer of 2002, I realized that for the past several months Wunjo had been panting excessively. I thought he had a tumor or something, so I brought him to the vet and a bunch of tests later we found out that not only did he have Cushing’s Disease, but diabetes as well. He went through a real bad patch around the end of 2002/beginning of 2003. For a while he couldn’t walk – I had to sling a towel underneath his hips and support him. But thanks to lots of massages and daily swim sessions in the pool (plus medication for his illnesses) he got his strength back, and now you’d never know anything was wrong with him (except for the blindness thing).
In mid-July, 2005, old Wunjo decided that he'd had enough. He was in a good mood, but decided to just stop eating. After almost a week of this behavior, he had a seizure in the middle of the night. I sat up with him until the morning (helping as best I could as he had multiple seizures), and then we rushed him to the vet for his final visit. Now he's together with his best girl, Nikki. I knew they couldn't be apart for very long! I'll always remember Wunjo with love and longing. He was my first dog ever and I hope I did right by him.
You're not Bryan - don't touch me.
