Birthday: January 6th 2005 Likes: Contact with family, hanging with the older dogs, and GLAD bowls. Pet-Peeves: Being alone Favorite Toy: Loves all toys. plastic GLAD bowls, LOVES the laser pointer. Favorite Food: Daisy is eating a rotation of kibble from the pet store. Turns out she is a picky eater. Favorite Walk: She likes being outside running with the big dogs. Best Tricks: She can sit for a treat. She can shake. She can ignore me. Arrival Story: Daisy (formerly known as Moose) was surrendered to the shelter. The person who BOUGHT her because he wanted a Neapolitan Mastiff decided she was getting too big.
This person's vet record showed that Daisy weighed 58lbs when he took her to the vet. He surrendered her 3 weeks later and she weighed 54 lbs.
He was feeding her ONE 8oz cup of food a day.
ONE!
No wonder she was losing weight.
After one week at the shelter she weighed 60.7 lbs which is when we got her.
She was malnourished and had a host of issues related to her poor state of health.
She is 5.5 months old and now weighs 75 lbs.
The funny thing is that I wasn't looking for a dog. If someone told me that I'd have a new dog I would have said they were nuts.
I saw her picture on the shelter's website and didn't think much about it. That night I woke up thinking about her. I figured someone must have adopted her since she was so adorable.
The next day the website still listed her as available so I went over at lunchtime and expected to find a waiting list. Nope.
Ended up bringing her home that night.
Since then 2 different people have told members of our family that they saw her at the shelter and were trying to adopt her but didn't connect with the right people. Yet I had no issues.
Guess she was meant to live with us.
She's wonderful. I love her so much. *

Awww Daze.....today would have been your 7th birthday.
I almost didn't remember.
I'm sitting here feeling so badly because I miss you.
The last two days have been medically hard on me.
You remember those awful days. You were the best medicine that didn't come from the doctors.
You were the best.
And I almost missed your birthday.
I love you Daze.
I miss you and love you so much.
I hope you know how much I love you.
I did.
I do.
Happy Birthday Daisy.
I love you.
On Thursday, 11/3/2011, we helped Daisy leave us. Cancer had eaten away part of her cervical vertebre (neck bone) and entered her spinal canal. She couldn't walk. We were able to say goodbye to her as she lay wagging at us. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. I love you Daisy. You made these past 6 years so much better for me. I hope I did the same for you. I miss you. - Wendy, Daisy's mom.
