Arrival Story:
My husband was driving to work one morning and saw two black creatures running in the median off the highway near an exit. He stopped and found two black puppies about 3-4 months old. He was able to coax them with some food and got both of them in his truck. He brought them to work and was able to find a home for one sister and we ended up keeping the other. She became Missy. We did not know what kind of dog she was. Vet, trainer and others said black lab, shepard mix, and with the solid black tongue, she must be part chow. Found puppy photos on the internet and she didn't look like any of those breeds. I was walking her one day and a woman pulled over and asked if she was a Belgian Sheepdog. I told her I had no idea since we found her on the side of the road. She said she used to breed them and that's exactly what they look like. Sure enough, as soon as I got home, I looked up Belgian Sheepdog on the internet, and we had a winner! That's exactly what she looked like. We found a breeder, brought her by and he confirmed it. All of the breed descriptions I have read about Belgians describe her perfectly.

Bio:
She has the hearding instinct. Loves to see cows, horses and other animals she can chase. Used to love to walk down the street to see the goats till they moved. It's been a couple of years since she's seen them but she still looks for them. We do drive around to look at other animals, goats, donkeys zebra and llama. She goes nuts and starts yelping when we see wild deer on the side of the road and they start to run. She is an excellent watch dog. Loves to run in circles. She is the smartest dog my husband and I have ever had growing up, this is the first dog we have had together as married adults. She was so easy to train, almost effortless. Does the sit stay down shake and all, plus brings in the newspaper. Trying to teach her to put stuff in the trash. Photos here include: Photo the day she was rescued. Her favorite thing, chasing squirrels up the tree. Sitting in the Texas Bluebonnets in the Spring. With her best friends Georgia and Lula. Walking in the snow at the park. Napping with her cats. Missy with Bear, who will not be with us much longer (cancer) he will be missed. She loves her cat herd. Missy at the beach in Galveston, TX and in the snow in Cloudcroft, NM.

After her first six and a half years in Texas, Missy is now a Georgia resident. We moved in November 2004. It was hard for the first six weeks in a temporary residence (hotel room with kitchen). We had to say good bye to all of her dog friends and her home away from home, Trailwood Park. We miss Texas and everyone. Our goals were to find a house and places to take Missy. We love the Chattahoochee river, Kennesaw Mountain and other parks in the area. Finally found a house with a large yard to be fenced in for her. She has rabbits in her own yard, how great is that! Her new favorite thing to chase in the woods is deer. She only had the opportunity to chase them in Hill Country at a friends ranch, but now she finds them at least once a week. She is adjusting to her new home and state, likes her neighbors and loves to take the ride down the road to Lost Mountain park. She has met some nice dog friends there too.
