 Quick Bio:
 Birthday: June 19th 1995
Likes: Frisbees, swimming, and eating things without chewing them.

Pet-Peeves: Fireworks, thunderstorms, vacuum cleaners, balloons, and hair dryers. You get the idea. Also, fresh mint leaves are decidedly not delicious.

Favorite Toy: Frisbee. Duh.

Favorite Food: Yes

Favorite Walk: Schenley Park, Pittsburgh

Best Tricks: Catching frisbees, balancing on his nose, and stealing tennis balls from two dogs at one time (see pic).

Arrival Story: Leo's been part of my boyfriend's family since he was five weeks old. Said boyfriend went to go purchase a lab pup from a breeder. They were all the usual lab colors - yellow, chocolate, black - except for one that was orange. Although the breeders told my boyfriend that the orange pup wasn't an approved lab color (although these days they are calling it "fox red"), the pup simply stood head and shoulders above the rest. At just five weeks, he was outgoing, affectionate, and very licky. So, Leo, with his pink pigmentation, soft orange coat, and sweet disposition, has been with my boyfriend ever since.

Bio: Leo hails from Leothia. Some people think he was born in Tucson, but certainly he moved there just in time to be adopted. Of course, he comes from Leothia. It's a real place. In Tuscon, Leo got to go camping all the time, which he loved because he hardly ever was on a leash. He later moved to Pittsburgh, where he could often be found chasing and catching frisbees in the park. Leo loves running down those hills to catch the frisbee and still enjoys doing so when he goes to stay with his grandparents. Leo then moved to D.C., where he enjoyed having a house with a yard. The deck on the third floor was a favorite spot for sunbathing.

Forums Motto: Are you going to eat that?

Hi. So happy to be here. Really.
Although, I've realized I'm quite the old man here amongst all you pups. I turned ten recently, and that was quite something. I'm not as high energy as I used to be, and that's just fine with my peeps.
For my special day, RB made me homemade doggie biscuits with peanut butter and other things I love. He did sneak in some fresh mint because he thinks it improves my breath. Like he should talk! I really don't like mint, but the biscuits are incredibly yummy anyway and I appreciate the fact that RB made them for me and made so many of them. He even made them in nifty shapes like pretzels and hearts. Yum!
My other special peep, RL, suggested we take a long walk to the local farmer's market for my birthday. She's not such a good biscuit cook, so she had to think of something else exciting we could do. We walked and walked the blocks and blocks to the market. There were so many other dogs there. And, the nice market people put out bowls of water just for me! I know that we went on the walk because it was my birthday and not because my peeps wanted to buy tomato plants and other silly stuff that I'm not allowed to get near.
I then decided it would be birthday month. I'm ten. That's a lot for a big dog and I should get more than one day. My peeps agreed. Plus, they felt really bad about going to that beer festival on Saturday and not taking me. Even though they called to try to find out if they could bring me, they still felt really bad when they got there and there were dogs all over the place. I know RB even played with some of them - I could smell the evidence on him.
Anyway, enough about other dogs. So, last weekend we went to Roosevelt Island where I got to hike around and swim in the Potomac River. RB would throw the frisbee out into the water and I'd swim and bring it back. It isn't like fetch on land where I can catch the frisbee on a fly, but it's at least as fun. Once RB threw the frisbee so far that I couldn't see it, and so I decided to try to retrieve the other dogs' toys. While I may not be as quick in water as I once was, you'd better bet that my determination gets me to the toy first most of the time. As you can see in one of my fine photos, I was able to get two tennis balls from two dogs at once. Everyone was impressed. I got bored with the tennis balls after awhile and longed for my frisbee, which had by then floated out to the middle of the river. Fortunately, some very nice kayakers retrieved my frisbee and returned it to RB for several more throws. What a day!
