Arrival Story:
Mickey (then Drew) was in the hands of a neglectful family in a neighbouring city along with his brother Murphy (then Teddy) and an older dog. One day they "broke loose" (or so the "owners" say). The pound for the city was called and all three dogs were picked up in a park, where they were playing with some kids. The pound there only holds dogs for 72 hours and then they are euthanized. The owners came and collected the older dog, and said they would return for the other two but never did. Mickey's brother was adopted by an older woman who lives in the city. She described Mickey as shy and reserved. On Mickey's last day, he was pulled by a rescue. He was in foster only a short time. I came upon his photo one day online and was blown away with his beauty! My mom came and saw his photo and read his biography, and called the rescue straight away. We had been searching for another dog after we had put our 13 year old Gordon Setter x Golden Retriever Wolfgang to sleep March 2004. On October 3, 2004, late at night, Mickey arrived from the neighbouring city. He had two weeks to proove to us he belonged, and us proove we were right for him. We succeeded. Mickey has now been a part of our family for almost 2 years, but it seems like he's been here forever! =)
