Arrival Story:
My brother had a Springer Spaniel which was the most friendly, docile dog. It was the dog that swayed my husband into becoming a dog lover. We finally bought our own house and I couldn't wait to get my own dog. I had been looking in the paper for a Springer, and some finally showed up. I immediately made a phone call, and took off. Beau was the puppy that first came up to me, so that was the one I decided on. I liked the markings on another better, but kept to my original plan of taking the first one that came up to me. I put a blanket in the back seat, somehow thinking he would be sleeping the whole way home. Wrong!! He was on my lap scratching and squealing like a little monkey. I was so tempted to take him back, just because I felt so bad for taking him from his mom. After an hour drive, we were home! I also had planned on painting chairs that day outside, once again thinking the puppy would sleep like a little angel. Wrong! He had white paint all over him! He had 2 baths within 2 hours. The first after running under the car and getting grease all over him. Next comes surprising the husband! He had no idea that when he got home from work a little handful was waiting for him. Beau was so cute w/ his little paws wrapped around my arm. Husband...not too happy! I did hear him tell the dog that he loved him, when he thought I couldn't hear him! He was also upset because we were trying to potty train him w/ brand new carpet in a house we had only been in for 3 weeks! Whoops! Anyhow, all is well now, and my husband calls Beau his best friend! Oh, and another thing...Beau is the complete opposite of my brother's dog...the most hyper dog I've ever seen...but we still love him!
