Things are going pretty well. Mom is working too much [ok not much she is mostly retired], but then any is too much for me. Ernie is a good companion and we all love him a lot. He is goofy and a bit of a clown and makes us laugh. He and mom are at war because he chews stuff when she is gone. It's just separation anxiety 'cause he doesn't do it when she is here, where I might add she belongs. But, it's a gentle war and they both are stubborn as bricks so it'll probably be going on for a long time.

Well, it's been a long time since I have made and entry in my diary and quite a bit has happened. Ernie is ok. Ranger and I have accepted him finally as member in good standing fo the family. He is a good comapanion on desert walks and hiking in the mountains.
The cats are all doing well. Charlie has type II diabetes and had to have a change in Diet he is eating something called M/D for felines. It's supposed to help him nutritionally. He is only 13 so he has a long way to go on his contract. All of the cats have a 20 year contract with Mom after that they can either re-negociate or die. Because we are her first ever dogs she doesn't know what to make us sign up for so we're are just supposed to stay as long as we possibly can.
Enough for now the sun is shining, it's warm and Mom is going out in the backyard and since she isn't allowed out there by herself I have to run.

A couple of days ago Ranger and Ernie got into over food. Now I personally have heard mom's friends tell her to never try and stop a dog fight except maybe with a hose or something, but never get personally involved. Not mom. She grabbed each of them by the collar and snatched them apart. That may not sound like much by Ernie weighs 91 lbs. and Ranger weighs 81 lbs. and she jerked them apart like they were dolls. Go, mom. Then she raised cain with both of them. I have noticed they have been a lot more polite to each other at meal times. :) I'm a perfect lady and would stoop to arguing over food.

Well, Ernie is still here. I don't think he's going anywhere. And he grows on you a little bit. He's improving, mom says it's because he is calming down some because he trusts us better. I understand how awful it feels to be moved from place to place and family to family and just as you get a little comfortable and secure they send you away and you have to start all over again hoping, with a little less hope, they are going to keep you and love you forever. Mom takes him to school with Miss Patrice every Saturday morning and she says that helps too. So, I guess we'll let him stay as long as he never forgets I'm number 1 Greyhound. :)

I don't know why Mom thought we needed another dog. Aren't Ranger and I enough? We couldn't love her more than we do and we are really good dogs. We had such a nice peaceful life and then one day she went off to visit her friend Vern and came home with Ernie. Ernie is a third wheel, Mom knows it she just won't admit it. He is the biggest goofiest clumsiest Greyhound I have ever met. I know Greyhounds, believe me, I didn't come off of the racetrack until I was 6. And life wasn't easy after that until Mom adopted me when I was 8. So, why did she want another Greyhound? I don't like Ernie and I don't want him to live with us, but I don't think I have an option. I'll make the best of it because I'm a good dog and love my family, but I don't have to like it.
