Arrival Story: We'd been wanting to get a Lab for some time but there didn’t seem to be any around. Then we found an ad in the paper for Dalmatian/Black Lab puppies and went to have a look. Lucy was the runt of the litter and was the last one left. She was very timid and small for her breeds, but she snuggled up next to our daughter and went to sleep on the car ride home. It was love at first sight!

Bio: We always tell people that Lucy is half Dalmatian, half Black Lab and ALL goof dog! She is shy of most people at first acquaintance but is fearless about all dogs and loves to meet them. Fortunately, she's never had a bad experience with a dog even though her rambunctious play-style can be rather daunting to a lot of her prospective doggy friends.
Lucy is a beautiful girl and a total sweetheart once she gets to know you. She's enormously loving with "her" people. If she sees anybody in the family hug anyone else, Lucy will run right over to get in on the love and wriggle her nose in between the two people until she's in the middle of it all.
Even though she’s a real barker, Lucy has never bitten anyone. Her mouth is so soft, we can actually take FOOD out of it without her biting (although she will try to run away with something she wants to keep).
Lucy is very protective of the family and barks at any strangers who try to get near us. She's actually a big chicken, though, and will run like crazy if somebody calls her bluff and comes toward her when she's barking at them. We always say she makes a great watchdog - she might not chase any burglars off, but for sure they'll slip in the puddles she leaves behind as she runs away!
It’s a real hoot to watch Lucy with her toys. She loves to toss them in the air and catch them with her mouth! When we lived where it snows, Lucy would break off chunks of it at the edge of our patio and bat it around the concrete with her paws.
We leave the blinds open in our front room because Lucy loves to look out and see what’s shaking in the neighborhood. She considers it her sworn duty to alert us if any of the neighbors have the audacity to step outside their homes. She also watches us as we leave each day and keeps an ear and eye out for when we return. Lucy always “dances” up to us when we get home again. What a terrific greeting at the end of the day -
we love Lucy!
