 Quick Bio:
 Birthday: December 15th 1996
Likes: Sunshine, playing, rides in the car, walks, treats, meeting new people (she is especially good with seniors), her fluffy pet pillows, lots of hugs and being told how good she is!

Pet-Peeves: Dieting (thank heavens that's over!), the chickens nextdoor, being teased by her doggie friend Zrako, afraid of fireworks and thunder

Favorite Toy: Pressed rawhide bones

Favorite Food: Berries

Favorite Walk: Avalon loves the bike and walking paths around town. She also enjoys visiting Rescue to run in the meadow and swim in the pond.

Best Tricks: "Talking," swimming

Arrival Story: Avalon was picked up as a stray by Animal Control. Although the shelter located her owner, they chose to leave her to take her chances in the shelter. She had been neglected -- blind in one eye needlessly, infected ears, thyroid problems, and a urinary tract infection so bad that it damaged her kidneys. Luckily, Avalon was taken in by the local German Shepherd Rescue, and was adopted the first day she was available. Her new family loved Avalon, but they could not walk her because she is a big dog and had little training, and they did not choose to take her to an obedience class. She was given a lot of cookies and became very overweight. Avalon was eventually returned to Rescue. I adopted her in December, 2003, or I should say that she adopted me -- as soon as we met, she sat down by my car and stayed there! *see photo* Avalon is a wonderful dog, very easy to work with, and a joy to have around!

Bio: Avalon is very serious about guarding her "flock" from any dangers in the backyard, such as squirrels. She was very quiet when she first came to live with us, and it has been fun watching her open up and show her great personality. Like many former shelter dogs, Avalon loves to give and receive affection and would like to be a lap dog if she wasn't so big! Though calm and gentle, Avalon is not above playing tricks on her mischievous buddy, Zrako, and particularly enjoys stealing his favorite toy, much to his distress!
Sadly, Avalon passed away on June 9, 2006. She will always be my very special girl.
