Arrival Story:
Buddy was given to the Toronto Humane Society at 13 yrs cuz he owners were unable to look after him any longer. Somewhere in Bud's past, he was possibly hit by a car and not treated properly so has a crippled front leg and nerve damage in the back legs. Toronto Humane did the best they could for him but he was fading fast in that atmosphere. They handed him over to my friend that runs a small breed rescue to let Bud live out what little time he appeared to have left in peace. I asked my friend if I could take Buddy till the end - he was a mess - that didn't seem would be long. WELL - after about a week of sleeping soundly, meals of boiled chicken with brown rice and carrots...he bounced back! The vet said his heart is very strong for his age and expects him around for a few years at least....the animal chiropractor has his back and legs in great shape and even tho he walks funny, he DOES walk![bless you Dr. Langdon] He takes medication to help the arthritis from the old breaks has him just LOVING LIFE! Buddy is a real treasure and a sweetheart - I thank God that he came my way

wadda mean? I don't walk funny!

September 13th, 2006 - Buddy was set free of the pain of his old crippled body to cross over to a better place.
I had the privilege of knowing Buddy and looking after him for the last 1 1/2 years of his life. I also had the privilege of holding him close to me while he left this world.
Buddy had a love of life just loved being around people. He would get so excited going out for a car ride and stopping for a TimBit that it made you laugh. Little things made him soooo happy.
Unfortunately, Buddy's poor old legs got to be too messed up and nothing could be done. Bud was on some super strong painkillers and would cry even with that.
On Sept. 12th we had a day out and Buddy was his usual happy crazy self - the adrenaline getting him thru. He had a wonderful day out but the next day he crashed again.
I held Buddy close to me while the vet quickly and quietly put him to sleep. Buddy left us with dignity and acceptance with all my love and tears.

"Run Buddy...as fast as you can and feel the wind blow on your face like you wanted to so bad when you were here. I'll always love you Bud and will never forget the crazy old guy that blew into my life for a little sliver of time"

Today, it's been a whole year since I came to live at my new forever and ever home. I was so sick when I came here, that no one thought I'd live long - but I fooled them! I liked the food and the pampering so much, that I got better and better and now a year later, I'm the toast of the house!
Over the last year, I have made so many new friends with all the foster dogs that come to stay with us. I learned to swim in a pool with my lifejacket on; I found how nice it was to sit in the sun for a little bit and then sit in the shade sitting on a blanket under a nice tree; I found that I like going for rides in the car [even tho I drive my mom nuts by barking cuz I'm so excited] and best of all, coming home; I got to know most of my neighbours and even go over to see one and have tea with her. But most of all...I learned that even an old dogs like me can find someone to love him and take care of him - and my mom says she's lucky to have found me!
It's been a great year.....and I'll tell you all about this year, next year - cuz I ain't going nowhere!!!!
