Arrival Story:
I discovered Petfinder.com and, just for fun (famous last words) I searched for a female shih tzu. "Smack" appeared with no picture, but her story was riveting. She had been found on the middle of a highway in West Virginia after two cars had driven over her. She was unscathed as a third car stopped and took her to a vet. The vet, then, called a local rescue who took her in and placed her on Petfinder. I called and spoke with the Rescuer and within 24 hours was on plane to Washington, DC to bring home my new babe. "Smack" was her name because she was found smack on the middle of the road. But, within a few hours, she was Sophie. Frightened at first, Soph handled the flight back to Toronto very well with all passengers wanting to visit with her. It didn't take long for Sophie to adjust even though her brother, Charlie- an only child for so long- was not amused. Sophie is spunky, sassy and loves to be loved. She is a ballerina in army boots and takes no guff from no one. It was all meant to be.
