Arrival Story: We first saw Max when he was only 6 weeks old. It was January and really cold and Max and all the other puppies in his litter only had a small wooden doghouse to keep warm in. Max was the runt of the litter and was definitely the one that got pushed around the most. He was one of only two puppies that was left to be adopted and we had no intentions of getting a boy. But when we saw his sister Kacie and decided to take her, we just couldn't let him be the only one left and he was so small and helpless that we decided to take him too. We were supposed to pick them up when they were 8 weeks old, but the breeder decided to let people take them a week early, which we were grateful for because the conditions they were kept in just weren't as good as they could be. So we put him and his sister in a laundry basket in the backseat of our truck and drove home!

Bio: Max comes from a purebred line of Golden Retrievers, he's AKC registered, his mother was named Ginny and his father Reggie. He came from a litter of 10 puppies and was the very last one to be born. His father died about 3 years after he was born because of a digestive disorder that he had never shown previous signs of. However, we had already discovered that Max cannot eat or drink without choking and throwing it back up, we took him to severel vets and finally to the experts at Texas A&M where after extensive tests they found that he has Cervical Esophagus Disorder which is NOT curable. So now he has to be spoon fed and we have a stack of towels to clean the floor with when he drinks and spits some out cuz he can't get it all down. The breeder realized that it must be hereditary and that's what caused the death of Reggie so he refunded the money we paid for him. But none of the vets thought Max would live this long, and I'm proud to say that he is alive and happy!
