Arrival Story:
We got Flea from www.brewbeagles.org, a beagle rescue, about a month after our dear blue-eyed beagle, CC, died. Flea was found by a Good Samaritan on the side of a road in Chester, Virginia. He was skinny, covered with fleas and ticks, stinky, infested with heartworms and afflicted with Lyme Disease. The Good Samaritan got him cleaned up, but found that his personality was a little too much for her household. She had a husband, a small child, two dogs, and two cats, plus several jobs to consider. She reluctantly put him up for adoption and we were the first ones brave enough to drive to Richmond in order to see him. It was love at first sight! He's a wonderful part of the family!

Bio:
Flea is very fastidious. He keeps himself immaculately groomed, barks tenaciously when he wants to go outside or eat, and fixes himself perfect beds. Flea is also one of the most finicky beagles I have ever seen. He sometimes turns down his morning food until he's good and ready to eat. Since his brother is a chowhound, that makes feeding him a challenge! Flea loves kids of all ages, including toddlers and babies, but he seems to be less enthused about elderly men. Flea is very good at telling us what he wants and needs. He demands love and attention and gives it back to us tenfold. He likes to sleep curled up between my husband and me. In the mornings, he rolls on his back and snorts until we give him a belly rub. Then, if we don't get out of bed right away to take him out, he barks at us. Lastly, Flea is super protective. We lost Flea to prostate cancer on November 18, 2009. Rest in peace, Flea. You are loved and missed.
