Dear Diary,

Doggie Massage

I had a really nice day today. It has been over 100* for six days in a row! Before that it was in the high 90's. I do not enjoy the heat. I get a little mean when the temperatures rises. The last time we were at the dog park, I was not feeling well due the heat and a corn cob that I could not pass sitting in my tummy. I growled and snapped at a Bull Mastiff that Mom says would have torn me apart. When he backed down, I was feeling pretty top dog, so I attacked another dog that was just sitting down. Mom and Dad were pretty upset with me and made me leave the park immediately. Mom just could not stay mad, so she took me on a short walk and swim.

Today Mom decideded that we need to get some exercise, so we went for a walk around Sloan's Lake. We started our three mile adventure about nine in the morning and it was already hot. At the lake there were three huge pelicans! I wanted to chase them, but was not allowed to. We meet two pretty girl dogs and I took a little dip with them. It was very refreshing!

Then we headed up to Boulder. My doggie day care, Dog City, was offering free doggie massages from practicing students. I was excited! I love Dog City, it is one of my favorite places! The students had a really hard time calming me down. I think the two that got me were thinking I would lay down and fall asleep like the Bloodhound in Racing Stripes. They kicked Mom out of the room, to get me to settle.

It was pretty nice. Very relaxing. Unfortunately, about 45 minutes into the hour massage I became restless and started whinning. When they did not let me go see the other dogs, I started howling. Mom thought it was pretty funny, but the lady running the show did not.

Then they finally let me go see Mom. I slept the whole way home. It was pretty nice, but I do not think I will go back until I am older and calmer.

Weekend Company

This weekend I unexpectedly had a sleep over. Ben Jr., a handsome Austrailian Shepard, came to stay with us from Friday to Sunday. Ben Jr. is very timid and shy. He is also very polite. I (according to my mom and dad) have none of the caracteristics mentioned above. I was only trying to get Ben Jr. to play with me, but everyone else saw it as me being a "spoiled brat". Furthermore, I had honestly forgotten about some of the toys Ben Jr. wanted to play with, but they were all my favorites once I remembered I had them.

The only problem arose when Ben Jr. wanted to chase my cat. Upon seeing Spooky, he suddenly became quite sure of himself. He chased him into a corner in between the bed and the wall. I am very protective of my fuzzy, black friend, so I jumped on the bed, gave him a few warning barks (I have a pretty intimidating bark), and snapped in his direction a few times. Mom came running in hollering, cleared up the whole scene and settled down the cat.

It was kind of nice to have another dog to play with. Maybe soon we will get a sister for me. My only demands are that it plays with me, is not as cute as me, and does not chase my cat.

Can't keep my paws off the poppies

Well, the poppies lasted almost one day. Luckily Sarah got home first. I took kind of a gamble, sometimes Loc is the first one home. Then I would have been in a lot of trouble! Sarah is not a great disciplinarian; she says I am too cute to get or stay mad at.

Tommarrow, Spooky (the cat) turns two. I am still trying to think of the perfect present.
