Peanut butter.

Favorite Walk:
Regis loved to follow me everywhere I go. Because of his flat face and the climate here, he didn't go on many outdoor walks.

Best Tricks:
He could snore louder than anyone else in the house!

Arrival Story:
Regis was adopted on April 16, 2005. After about three months of grieving the loss of my beloved Sandy, I decided to take a chance on a different breed. In late March, I sent in an online adoption application to the local Pug rescue group, requesting a female five years or older. The next month, I got a call from a woman involved with the rescue group. She said they didn't have any female Pugs the age I wanted, but there was an eight-year-old male who was otherwise perfect for me. Regis had been shut in a crate for most of his life and was given up for wetting in the little boy's room at his former person's house. His sad story--and the picture I received in my e-mail--convinced me that this was the dog for me.

Bio:
Regis slept on my bed, usually as close to me as possible. He also enjoyed curling up on my lap. I have never had a dog bond with me so strongly and so quickly... Sadly, Regis crossed the Rainbow Bridge on January 7, 2009. He had become ill just before Christmas with what appeared to be dental problems, but the veterinarian realized immediately that something more serious was going on. Regis was supposed to go in for an ultrasound the week he died. The diagnosis would have been either a problem with his kidneys or liver or cancer. Because of his symptoms, I believe Regis's cause of death was kidney failure. He was a brave little guy who loved life and didn't let blindness or seizures get him down. I miss you so much, Regis, but I know that you're at peace now and no loner suffering.
