Arrival Story:
Sandy became my friend on January 19, 2002. I found her online through both Petfinder and my city's no-kill's shelter's web site. I had wanted a German Shepherd Dog for years, and I was looking for another dog (my family's Cocker Spaniel had been put to sleep about two months before) when I saw Sandy.
Sandy had been at the shelter for about four months when I adopted her. Her previous guardian had gone to a nursing home and both of his or her dogs were taken there when that happened. At first, the shelter wanted to place Sandy and her companion, Gene, in the same home, but they ended up adopting Gene out separately. Sandy's age was estimated to be around ten years, but that didn't stop me from adopting her. The second I saw her picture online, I fell in love and knew she had to come home with me.
Bio:
Sandy passed away on December 16, 2004 of hemangiosarcoma (a common cancer in her breed). I miss her terribly every single day and cherish every single second we spent together. She lives on in my heart and memories.
