Sweet little delilah woke up one morning to find a big juicy strawberry rhubarb pie on the counter. She never eats human food, or takes things off the counter, but apparently she has a strawberry rhubarb pie fetish that we had no idea about. She dragged it off the way back of the counter and the glass pie plate shattered into a thousand pieces. When mommy came down she saw shards of glass on the floor (but not enough to recreate a full pie plate) and no pie. There sat delhi happy as a clam and wagging away. Mommy flips out and rushes delilah to Cornell Vet Hospital, once there x-rays are taken and indeed one can see (underneath a huge amount of pie) about a half cup of glass. We decided on emergency surgery since the glass was all contained and had many large very jagged and sharp pieces. Later we got to see all the glass they got out of her stomach - we were so happy that we opted for surgery as several pieces were very long and sharp. They told us that it's true - labs will eat everything, but this is the first lab that ate the pie and the pie plate!
Boy did we learn out lesson - never again will we leave ANYTHING out on our counter. Delilah is the beloved sun to which our lives revolve around, she brings us so much joy and love.
Our eternal respect and gratefulness goes out to the wonderful Doctors, Nurses, Surgeons and Students at the Cornell Vet Hospital. They could not have been more caring, experienced, or wonderful to us.

We are sure that they saved our beloved brown dogs life.
