Leave a bone for Ricky - In Loving Memory

Ricky Ro Ro or Rudy or Big Boy

Quick Bio:
-dog rescue

October 31st 2002

to hide in the corner until I come home

EVERYTHING! He is very shy and just getting used to life in a house with other influences. He does HATE the ringing phone and the morning alarm.

Favorite Toy:
Ricky is not playing much but is game for a thrown ball if Lucy does not get in the way.

Favorite Food:
We have not yet found a food that Ricky does not like.

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere I want to take him.

Best Tricks:
Ricky can run and jump over the entire sofa in one leap if he is in a hurry to get out the door.

Arrival Story:
UPDATED 9/30 - Ricky ran away on 9/17 and found by a good samaritan on 9/29. Unfortunately, he appears to have been hit by a car and after overnight observation and xrays was found to have too many internal injuries, along with his severely broken femur to make it ********************************** **** I was looking for a friend for Lucy and wanted either a golden or a lab. Ricky won out because of his shyness I was concerned that no one would want him. I brought him home with me on October 4, 2004. He is a gem of a boy and he is worth all the work to get him out of his shell.

9/30/05 - I held Ricky's head and paw as he slipped away. May he run and frolic and not be afraid of anything anymore. He was with me from 10/4/04 - 9/30/05 Hopefully the best year of his life.

Mom got my ashes today along with two cards. One from Jimmie, Jeanne, John and their doggie Micky. Jimmie is the one that found me and helped me find my mom. They wrote a wonderful note that made Mom cry and they included a photo of Jimmie and his guy Micky. It is because of John calling Micky that I came out to see what was going on ... well, you know the story from there. ::: sigh:::

Mom also got a card from the nice people and the doctor at the last place I visited. It sure makes her feel good to know so many people are looking out for her. Here I am playing and having a wonderful time and I don't want her to worry about me anymore. She gets sad and will cry sometimes so I hope she is better soon.

Thank you all {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

All of you great pups and pup parents have been so kind and wonderful to me. Thank you all for giving Ricky bones when he was lost and hungry and rosettes when he was found and hurt and all the kind words to me to help me thru my tough time.

Wednesday afternoon I received a beautiful plaque in memory of Ricky. There was a wonderful woman by the name of Peggy who did my home check when I first started looking at So Cal Lab Rescue locally. Within a week or two she had Ricky for me to look at. Ricky was my first in so many ways and I know that Peggy knew I would love him dearly. I was so touched by Peggy's thoughtfulness in sending me the plaque. It has the Rainbow Bridge poem on one side with Ricky's name and dates I had him on the other and a place for his photo.

His ashes are back and I should get them tomorrow. They will have a special place by the plaque and Ricky will be remembered very lovingly always.

I sure miss the way he ran out to meet me by the door when I got home. I miss the way he ran away when the phone rang! I miss the way he ran and jumped on my bed in the morning when he heard me stretch and say good morning to Lucy. Once they were both on the bed in the morning, then they both clamored for my attention when all I wanted to do was get up and go to the bathroom! :-) I miss standing up and doing the 'waggle tail' dance anytime I wanted to get Ricky to waggle his tail for me. That made us BOTH smile!!!!

I guess I just plain ole miss my Ricky Ro.

I was held by Mom when I took my last breath today. The last year of my life with my 'forever' home was the best I'd ever had. I will love Mommy and Lucy always and will look down on them and laugh when Lucy gets in trouble next time!
