I had the most incredible dream last night.......

I dreamt that it was a beautiful, sunny, warm spring day (like today) and Mom, sis and I were walking in some big, grassy field and we saw you. You were there all by yourself just sniffing around and I said, Oh my God, that looks exactly like Duchess! You must've heard me because you looked up when you heard me say your name and then you came running over. Your tail was wagging so fast. You were so happy and so were we. You were perfectly healthy and not in any pain. We couldn't stop hugging and kissing you. Then that stupid alarm clock rang and back to the horrible reality that you are no longer here. :'(

Not one day goes by that I don't think of you. I love you so much.

I received your gift......

When I was cleaning, I found one of your kibbles behind the my bedroom door, right behind the DVD stand. I must've cleaned over there over a dozen times since you've left and only just noticed it today. Thank goodness I didn't vacuum it up by accident. I picked it up and put it with your ceramic paw print. I remember when you used to walk around the house with a mouthful of kibbles leaving a trail of kibbles everywhere. Made me laugh then and made me smile today. Thank you sweet girl. I hope you send me more special gifts like that.

Still missing you.....

Today is my birthday and I don't feel much like celebrating. I still miss you so much. Mom sent me a birthday card and she enclosed a picture of you that she took when we went to visit her last July 4th. You sat and posed so nice for the picture sitting up on all fours. I just started crying (happy and sad tears - happy to see a new picture of you that I never saw before but sad because that will be the last new picture of you). I wish so much for you to be here. Not one day goes by that I don't think of you beautiful girl. I will always love you Duchess.

Happy Valentine's Day!

DuchieBear, I wanted to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day! It's been a month today since you had to leave. How I wish you were still here so I can give you a big hug and kiss. I just wanted you to know how much you are still loved today and everyday. We miss you so much. The house is still so empty without you. I hope that you have made some friends at the Bridge to keep you company. We are sending all of our love to you and all the Bridge kids. You will always be our sweet angel.

It was a week yesterday........

It was a week yesterday since I had to let you go. Coincidentally, yesterday you would've been 8 1/2 years old and we also had our first snowfall of the year. You loved the snow. I can still picture you on our walks when there was snow on the ground, stopping to take mouthfuls of snow. I can still see your big "bear" pawprints embedded in the snow. I remember the way you used to hop through the snow when it was very deep. I remember when there was a deep snowdrift, you digging through it and all anyone could see was your backside sticking out. How I wish you could've been here to see the snow.

I just picked up your ashes.....

I was at work today when the vet's office called me to let me know that you were ready to be picked up. My heart just stopped when they said that because I really thought for a split second that you were going to walk out with me. I tried hard not to cry but I couldn't hold it in. It seems so final now for some reason even though it was already final on Saturday. They gave me your pawprint in clay and a locket of your fur. I also clipped some of your fur the other day myself.

I placed you in the living room where you used to love to sleep and watch us coming and going.

I miss you so much my sweet DuchieBear. I love you always.

Still in disbelief......

I still am trying to accept that you are no longer physically here. I still can't get used to the fact that I have to use the past tense when referring to you. You are loved and missed so much my sweet girl. I wish you didn't have to leave so soon.

I am truly touched by the outpouring of love and support by so many Dogsters and their humans during this very difficult time. I am very grateful to all of you for your kind words of comfort. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

Duchess is now an angel today, 1/14/12

My sweet girl had to be set free today. Her brain tumor had progressed to the point where she just couldn't stand or walk without someone holding her up. She had difficulty sitting down and today, she didn't have the strength to eat or drink anything even when I tried to hand feed her. My heart is beyond broken but I am relieved to know she is no longer suffering. She went very peacefully with my mom, my sister and I stroking her fur and talking to her as she drifted. I just pray we will meet again one day.

Duchess, I love you now and always.

I just wanted to take the time to thank all my pup pals for the thoughtful WOOFday wishes and prezzies! I had a lovely day despite it raining all day. My human worked from home so she can spend it with me and I had some Frosty Paws ice cream as my WOOFday treat. So far, being 6 yrs old ain't bad!
