1 year ago today......

we had to let u go. It was the most difficult day of our lives. Not a day goes by that we don't think of u. We love & miss u terribly. We are glad u are finally at peace. U were truly a gentle giant. Love u always Duchess.

Happy Barkday!

This is your first Barkday at the Bridge. You are 9 years old today. I just want you to know that I am thinking of you today & always on your special day.

This past 4th of July we went to NH to visit mom, Duke & Daisz. Duke & Daisz were looking for you to get out of the car with us. Everyone missed you not being there. This year's trip just wasn't the same.

Your Dogster pals are the best. They always drop in on your page and leave you special treats with very nice messages. You are a lucky dog to have such great furiends.

I miss you so much. I still can't believe you've been gone just over 6 months now. I love you big girl with all my heart.

Still thinking of you........

I've been thinking so much about you the last few days. The little girl next door, Alyssa, has a brand new baby sister. She saw me and wanted me to meet her sister and she also asked about you. I had to tell her that you went to heaven to be with God and all of the angels. She then asked if you were ever coming back. I tried my best to hold it together in front of her. I said, unfortunately, no you won't be back but we can still talk to you when we pray to God. She said it's not fair because she still wants to pet you. I said, I know, I do too. She asked me if I miss you. I said of course I do. Not one day goes by that I don't think about Duchess. Then she hugged one of her dogs and said that she won't let God take her dogs away. I had to hurry and go inside before I started crying in front of her. This really hasn't gotten any easier. I miss you so much my sweet girl.

I had the most incredible dream last night.......

I dreamt that it was a beautiful, sunny, warm spring day (like today) and Mom, sis and I were walking in some big, grassy field and we saw you. You were there all by yourself just sniffing around and I said, Oh my God, that looks exactly like Duchess! You must've heard me because you looked up when you heard me say your name and then you came running over. Your tail was wagging so fast. You were so happy and so were we. You were perfectly healthy and not in any pain. We couldn't stop hugging and kissing you. Then that stupid alarm clock rang and back to the horrible reality that you are no longer here. :'(

Not one day goes by that I don't think of you. I love you so much.

WOW! Diary of the Day today - 3/21/12

I received your gift......

When I was cleaning, I found one of your kibbles behind the my bedroom door, right behind the DVD stand. I must've cleaned over there over a dozen times since you've left and only just noticed it today. Thank goodness I didn't vacuum it up by accident. I picked it up and put it with your ceramic paw print. I remember when you used to walk around the house with a mouthful of kibbles leaving a trail of kibbles everywhere. Made me laugh then and made me smile today. Thank you sweet girl. I hope you send me more special gifts like that.

Still missing you.....

Today is my birthday and I don't feel much like celebrating. I still miss you so much. Mom sent me a birthday card and she enclosed a picture of you that she took when we went to visit her last July 4th. You sat and posed so nice for the picture sitting up on all fours. I just started crying (happy and sad tears - happy to see a new picture of you that I never saw before but sad because that will be the last new picture of you). I wish so much for you to be here. Not one day goes by that I don't think of you beautiful girl. I will always love you Duchess.

Happy Valentine's Day!

DuchieBear, I wanted to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day! It's been a month today since you had to leave. How I wish you were still here so I can give you a big hug and kiss. I just wanted you to know how much you are still loved today and everyday. We miss you so much. The house is still so empty without you. I hope that you have made some friends at the Bridge to keep you company. We are sending all of our love to you and all the Bridge kids. You will always be our sweet angel.
