Arrival Story:
Sailor was surrendered to us by his previous owners because he had a huge tumor on his paw, and they thought it was malignant. They didn't have the money to help get him well. After being with us for 24 hours, we were so head-over-heels in love with this boy.... we begged and pleaded with our Rescue Chair to let us adopt him. He finally said yes, and Sailor officially became a permanant member of our family. And, best of all, the tumor was benign, and he made a wonderful recovery!

Sailor is the largest newf we have ever seen. He weighed 204 pounds when we adopted him. We've taken some weight off, because he has some structural problems, which would be aggrivated by extra weight. He is the epitome of a newf. He is Mr. Congeniality. He has been known to turn heads and stop crowds wherever he goes. He's been in parades, has starred as "Nana" in a local production of "Peter Pan" and has traveled with us to New York, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, and several places here in Ohio. He never failed to turn heads!!! You can see more about Sailor by visiting our website:

Sailor has gone to the Rainbow Bridge...

This will be the last entry in Sailor's diary. I am so very sad to have to share the news that we had to help Sailor to the rainbow bridge this past Thursday. He had suffered from some sort of disk problem and could not use his "back end" at all. We had to help him with a sling. We made several visits to the vet, and he initially responded to medication. However, he soon started losing ground, and was suffering.

We felt that as his guardians, we had to do the kind thing and set him free. We are devasted and miss him desperately. Knowing that he's at peace and free from pain is some comfort. Memories of the time we had with Sailor comfort us as well.

Sailor was a blessing. He was the empitome of what it is to be a newf... and was a true gentle giant. The time we had with him was a true gift....

Until we meet again Sailor-man. We love you, and will forever and ever.

Foiled by some darned racoons.

Well, I tell you! I am sooooo ticked off at the racoons in our neighborhood. You see, my Mom and I take a special walk every morning after breakfast. And I have her sooooooooooooooooooooooo bamboozled. I stand at the step leading to the porch and just look at her.

She calls me, and tells me to come, and I just look at her. So then she lures me with some sort of treat. She gets them out of her car, where she always has extra biscuit's on hand.

Well, one day, she ran out of biscuits, and found some of those cheese and peanut butter crackers. BOY THOSE ARE GOOD!!! I would do anything for that. So, she stashed a secret supply on the porch, and every morning, I'd get one for coming on to the porch. My Mom loves me soooooooooooooooo much!!!

Then, the other day, racoons found them, and they're all gone. Now I'm back to Dog Biscuits.... which are ok, but they're not Cheese and Peanutbutter. Oh well....

So much snow... so little time

We have had alot of snow this winter. And I love it. I mean... my yard is like one big giant snow cone! I love snow! I love eating it. I could eat it all day... it's like an "all you can eat" buffet! BUT...

Annie & Russell won't let me eat it. They say it makes me sick.... and sometimes I do throw up after eating it. But it's sooooooooooooooooo good! So who cares?????

Humans.... I will just never "get" them.
