Favorite Walk: Anywhere Arrival Story: Sadie was the Newfoundland we fostered for SCNC (South Central Newfoundland Club Rescue). After fostering her for 2 weeks, we were so in love with her that we adopted her. She was horribly neglected by her previous owners, and very overweight. We had to put her on a strict diet, and she soon lost the 50 extra pounds she had been carrying! Bio: Sadie had her first seizure about 4 months after we adopted her. Soon after, she had her second and third and after testing and consulting with our Vet, it was decided that she had Canine Epilepsy. Her seizures were severe. However, we managed to get good control by using various anti-seizure medications. Sadie did experience some adverse side effects from these. She became weak in the rear, and we had to use a sling to help her walk.
We were devastated when Sadie became critically ill and died suddenly in March of 2001. Her death was totally unrealted to her epilepsy and left a hole the size of a crater in our lives.
