Sun Sign: Quick Bio:
 Birthday: April 17th 1995
Likes: FOOD (and other items that might resemble food, such as candles, rocks, and tubes of Chapstick)

Pet-Peeves: not being petted

Favorite Toy: a toothbrush-shaped chewy bone (made by Greenies, but inedible)

Favorite Food: eggs. He can smell them cooking from 2 blocks away

Favorite Walk: all over his mum.

Best Tricks: He has a trick that he plays on me: when he thinks there's something tasty on the ground, he'll pretend that he's making a poop, which temporarily distracts me, at which point he can grab the goody.

Arrival Story: A friend had put me in touch with corgi breeders in Hawaii. They told me that they didn't have puppies, but they had a 16 month old dog named Buster who was available for adoption. I went over to meet him, and when I went to go inside the breeders' house, I took off my flip-flops as is customary in Hawaii. When we all went back outside, Buster peed right on my flip-flop. Clearly he had marked his territory, so I adopted him.

Bio: I am a teacher and my students love Buster. The feeling is mutual, because after eating Buster's 2nd favorite hobby is being petted. So one summer when I taught a Shakespeare course, Buster became my TA. He came to class, greeted every student, then fell asleep and snored softly throughout the rest of the class. He became so popular that I had to post his "office hours." Needless to say, his office hours were better attended than mine!
Also, Buster has traveled all over Hawaii, California, and the East Coast. He has marched in three of the Santa Barbara big dog parades. He worked as a therapy dog to a nursing home. Even though we've always lived near the coast he hates the beach--and anything else involving water. He has charmed people who profess to not like animals into liking him, and he even wins the hearts of cat lovers. My dad went from not liking any animals to pulling over to the side of the road and getting out of the car whenever he sees a Corgi to pet. Buster turned 14 in April and I am very thankful for his continued good health. He's deaf, extremely nearsighted, and arthritic, but his arthritis medication (Metacam) is fantastic and makes him feel like a pup. He still comes to school with me everyday--otherwise I would be in serious trouble with our staff.

Forums Motto: when there's a Corgi, there's a way.

I'm sorry to report that Buster had to be put down on Thursday, March 10th. His arthritis had advanced to the point that he was having trouble standing and walking, so it was time. Buster was a month shy of his 16th birthday and I am so grateful to have had so much time with my little man.

Hi everybody! It's been a long time since I've written but just wanted to let everyone know that I'm doing okay. I'm 15 1/2 now and spend most of my time curled up asleep on the rug. However I am still extremely serious about -food- and do a little dance every time the treats come out. I also still go to work with mum, now in my new doggie stroller. Life is good :-)

Mum and I celebrated the day by walking down the block to our local 3 dog bakery, where I got a braided rawhide chew. I promptly un-braided it and chewed up one of the three strands. Yum!
Life is good. Yup, I'm getting up there--I'm nearsighted, have arthritis, and am occasionally incontinent, poo-wise. But, this new arthritis medication is awesome and gives me all the energy I need to be my rascally self. That means that I go to work with mum every day and deplete the treat boxes of all her neighbors at work. Elaine rewards me just for showing up at work, so when we're going up to mum's office I paw at the elevator door because I can't wait to visit Elaine. Then, mum walks me during the day on the terrace outside her window, and after I pee I jump back through her office window and head to Elaine's for another treat. After that, I sometimes get restless and escape out of mum's office to visit Elaine, Shelley, or anyone who's eating lunch in the lounge.
We also recently spent a weekend in Victoria, and that may be the most dog-friendly place ever. Mum took me to the Empress hotel and all the shopkeepers dropped whatever they were doing to come pet me. One lady even called her friend at another shop to tell her I was coming. Then some clothing stores let me go in the dressing room with mum when she was trying on clothes.
Fortunately, she didn't put any clothes on me...but she's threatening to buy me a raincoat.
