Eating, swimming, eating, playing in the snow, and eating
The last 20 minutes before dinnertime
Frisbee (you NEVER say this word unless you mean to follow up with a rousing game!!)
West Glacier Trail
Trading no-no objects for food, "leave it" (our son actually discovered that if you put food in front of him and tell him to leave it, he will stay perfectly still while being groomed), sit pretty,"tippy toes" (stand on his back feet and stretch up tall )
We had wanted to get a dog for ages, but since we live in an apartment we had to get special permission. A good friend had bred their Lab, so we secretly made all the arrangements so we could buy one of the puppies.
We took the kids to play with the puppies for a bit, and then I said, "Well, I hate to tell you this, but.........the one with the blue collar is coming home with us!"
You should have seen the look on the faces of our 3 youngest children!!
Jax is one of the best things that has ever happend to our family. We have never regretted bringing him home (even at those 3am potty calls I was sleepily mumbing, "I love having a puppy" )
He's silly, hungry, quirky, loving, faithful, hungry, friendly, boisterous (duh), tireless (double duh), tolerant and hungry. He just fits in around here, and yet he's changed us all for the better. He was bought to be a therapy dog for one of our daughters, and he ended up healing all of us a bit.
He's named after the little seal in the movie "The Secret of Roan Innish".

Ok, so here I am again.....tooth bill paid off, and into more trouble. Mom's been more careful with the pea gravel *sigh* but I've been finding plenty other things to eat :oP
Ended up I had 3 teeth pulled, and they cleaned the rest and told mom I have a cracked tooth on the other side....guess I'll be sticking to snatching bagels and muffins for awhile...
They also filed my nails down. I tell ya, those vet people sure take advantage of a guy when he goes to sleep! eeeesh....
The grandson things are doing amazingly well...oh yeah, baby, they are SERIOUS food dispensers, tho the younger one is now asking MOM before he gives me anything?? what's with that?! I NEVER taught him that! someone has been messing with his training!
However, I do have a couple more advocates....sissy #2 and her husband....oh yeah, they are ALWAYS saying "it's just a little bit". Mom threatened to send me home with them so they would have to deal with the ensuing odors after eating the "treats". I sure hope she doesn't ever do that, tho, cuz then I know they would NEVER feed me anything ever again!! I'm sure I would starve....seriously! Mom only feeds me twice a day....oh yeah, and then I get yogurt, too, and sometimes treats for giving up things that I have picked up off the floor that someone decides they treasure enough to not let ME have (what I'd REALLY like to know is....why is it on the FLOOR, then??? or left on the table?? get real....if they REALLY wanted it....well...I won't talk about that, cuz they might read this and then I wouldn't have nearly as much fun retrieving things).
Oh...yeah...last retrieval....younger grandson's diaper. Oh golly, it was tough giving that one up. Which brings up an issue....I think there might be something wrong with me, cuz every time I pick something up...well, I go show mom to get her take on it. I don't know why I keep doing it....terrible habit, but it DOES get me treats, so I suppose I can't complain too much, but still.... I wonder if all retrievers deal with that....
Oh hey...gotta go!! the 2 youngest just got back from the store....and they bought FOOD!!!!

Well hey! What's a dog got to do to get on the computer any more! Guess I can't complain, cuz mom's been keeping me busy enough (though I am SURE she is trying to starve me).
Bad news coming up, though....I have a bump on my cheek. My dogter says that my tooth is cracked and infected. Mom is NOT happy with me. I swear I haven't been at the pea gravel in awhile! I've been cutting back....really!
So, anyways, I have to get a job now, cuz my good looks won't pay for getting all my teeth cleaned and examined and hopefully only the 1 tooth will have to be pulled. I'm not concerned with the pain so much as I want to make sure I've got plenty of teeth left to eat with!
On the good side....I get 2 cheeseballs every day (with my meds in them). More food...YIPPEE!!
Guess I'd better be extra good for awhile, and not get into any trouble....well, at least until the bill is paid off :oP
The grandson things are doing well, and dutifully head to the kitchen upon arrival. The younger one grins at mom just before he gives me some of his food. Oh yeah, baby, this one is trained even better than the first one (who makes me sit before he will throw my toys for me to chase....I am not sure who gave him the idea, but if he gets too many more ideas like this it may ruin his training!). Hmmm....maybe I should talk to big sis about getting another grandson thing......
Gotta cut this short....someone is in the kitchen!!

Not much to report here. The weather has gone wonky!! Apparently my order for snow was MISDELIVERED to Georgia?? *grrrr* and we got Florida's sunshine ?!?! "Highs" of 52? just something wrong here....
Well, even so, we got enough snow (almost 42") within the first week and a half of the new year to keep me making "snow angels" for now. It's just not fluffy. Hopefully we get more snow soon.....I'm keeping tabs on the forecaster :oP
I think the warm weather made my ear go goopy, too. Mom keeps smelling my ear to make sure it doesn't stink. And she complains about ME not knowing social boundaries!
The grandson things are amazing *happy sigh* The elder one is soooo good at raiding the fridge when he visits, and dropping stuff on the floor, that I am finally feeling like I am nearly well-fed. Just nearly, tho.....mom says that a Lab NEVER feels well-fed. Not sure how I gave her that idea.......could it be the trash can raids?
The younger one??? well.....he seems to have a real thing for me! I'm trying to encourage him toward the refrigerator, but he's not quite mobile enough for that just yet. I guess I'll have to be content with hugs and exploring hands at this point. Maybe if I can get him to hold on tight enough, then I can start dragging him toward the kitchen.
speaking of.....best go, I hear someone rummaging in there!
