Arrival Story: After looking for nearly a year after our Elkhound Rosie died, Dusty captured our hearts at the pound when he put his paws under the gate and whined when I (Mom) walked by. It was love at 1st sight. (Can you say "sucker". If we'd only known what we were in for in the beginning!) After much training, patience, obedience classes and love, Dusty is the best dog ever. He's now a neighborhood favorite and people even comment on how far he's come along.
Bio: I know I rule the world because I'm so cute and I'm so smart I got my new owners to spoil me rotten. I was found a mess rolling in mud on a busy city street and thrown in this aweful kennel. Humans walked by me day after day, but soon SHE came along...my ticket out of there! I even had them believe I couldn't bark (BOL). Well I got to my new den and was ready to show them who's boss. I pooped on my new Dad's clothes, tore through the house at every passing dog and loud truck, paced the property over and over, I even did back flips on my walks. "Chaos" could've been my middle name. It wasn't my fault really-no one ever taught me anything or took me anywhere. So when that didn't work I went the "cute" route...I'd get "stuck" under their bed and cry so they'd rescue me. ;) OK long story short- they put me through doggy BOOT Camp UGH! Routines, structure, exercise, obedience (and love) and I soon discovered things really weren't so bad. I let them be in charge (most of the time ;)). Now I walk and ride all over, go camping and hiking; I have many friends at doggy day care; I'm well known at the dog park, in the 'hood and at the pet stores. I have every kind of chew you'd ever want, a luxurious bed, a large back yard and a hairdresser.... LIFE IS GOOD!!!!
Oh, and did I mention, I talk a lot. (moooooooooo)
