Arrival Story:
Yara was fostered by Tom and Patty Adams in Stonington, CT for about two years before receiving her formal training at Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation in Bloomfield, CT. She was placed as a guide dog on December 4, 2007.

Bio:
Yara is partnered with Cyndy Otty; she is Cyndy's second guide dog. Yara is incredibly alert and sensitive and continually amazes her handler with her working abilities. She's very "oral" and likes to have a toy of some sort to carry at all times. (She'd carry one while working in harness if she could get away with it.) In November 2008, after many months of staggering weight loss and various tests, Yara was diagnoses with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. She continues on daily supplement treatment to replenish the enzymes she is unable to produce. But through it all, she's maintained a happy, playful girl.
