Arrival Story:
My fiance and I moved in mid 2004 and his dog, Kenya stayed with my mom. We tried to have Kenya live here with us but she wasn't happy in the condo. So we wanted a dog that would be well adjusted to where we were living. We actually had no intention on getting a JRT. We wanted to go to a breeder, but the wait was 6-8 weeks. We wanted to do something right away because our work schedules were perfect for raising a new pup. We went to a pet shop and looked at a couple of dogs, but they were medium to large breeds. We left the place for a while to discuss things and decided a smaller dog is best. We went back and looked again. We brought Indy into the little room and he started tearing around and playing with our shoe laces. Very cute and full of spirit. He came home with us and we couldn't be happier. I have had a lot of pets in the past, so the trials of raising such a strong minded dog wasn't as bad as most were anticipating it would be. These dogs are known for being very smart. We got through the toughtest parts of raising him fairly unscaved.

Well, It's been a while since Mom wrote in my diary. My parents have been through a lot in the past few years. They tied the knot on 9/8/7. I was supposed to be the ring bearer, but I couldn't control my excitement, so they had to scratch that idea. 'Scratch'...get it? BOL

I just love going to Grandma's when ever I can. Mom will drop me off on her way to work at a meeting place and I jump into Grandma's car and off we go! I am so lucky to have such a great Grandma who is willing to go out in the wee hours of the morning just for ME! I get to play with my big sister Kenya and torment the horse when I get to sneak into the corral. I get yelled at if I go near the horse, but Grandma says it's for my own good whatever that means. I try real hard to listen to her though. Otherwise I may not be able to visit unless Mom or Dad come too.

I wonder if anydog loves the snow as much as I do! I love to run like crazy in the snow. Mom kicks the snow up when I run past and I bite the air to catch it. She laughs a lot when I run around like a crazed maniac, so I try to keep running until I get tired. I like to make my humans happy :)

Mom and Dad are in the process of putting in laminate flooring in our whole place! How am I supposed to tear around if I slide into the wall when I try to stop!? I hear we are getting a bunch of area rugs, so I hope that will help.

Mom said I was twitching a lot during my nap. I was probably chasing that stray black cat that likes to sit on the chair on our porch...Grrrrr.... I'm gonna get you cat!!

Indy's adventure's

Yesterday we all went for a ride. Daddy was driving, so of course we never stopped to ask directions. We were heading down to a place called Sandy Hook. They allow dogs in the bay area, but not on the beaches. The nerve! We had a little trouble finding it, but after only 3 hours in the car (should of only taken 1 hour or less) we found the spot. It wasn't big like the beach area, but it served as a nice area for me to practice swimming.

This was my first time on the sand. It was pretty neat and I could dig all I wanted. Mom and Dad took me to a spot on the sand and took off my leash. The water was gently coming up on the shore and Mom and Dad went into the water just enough to wade around. I was a little scared since I never saw this much moving water. They called to me and asked me to come out. I wasn't too sure of what to do, and I didn't like the water breaking on the shore. It would splash at me and I didn't like that too much. I was trying real hard to be brave. Mom and Dad were calling to me to come out where they were. I was hesitant, but I trusted that I would be ok. So I bravely overtook the 3 inch wave and got past the break and started swimming all by myself! I went right to whoever was closer and then turned and went back to the shore. WHEW! I made it. That wasn't so bad. I even tried it a few more times.

There was one bad part. I wasn't sure why, but I had to go in another direction. Maybe to go to the car, or maybe just to avoid the water. It wasn't clear as to my sudden decision to take off. There was an outlet to the road right behind us and I started going that way. Mom and Dad were yelling for me to come back, but I wasn't listening. They screamed louder, but I still kept going up the hill towards the road. So they ran after me. The sounds from Mom and Dad were getting even louder and I hear a lot of words like, INDY NO!, INDY STOP!, INDY COME!. It was unlike any sound I ever heard from Mom and Dad. They sounded scared. About 3 feet from the road, I hear INDY SIT!, so I just lay down until Mom and Dad caught up with me. My Mom almost started crying, but I wasn't sure why. I saw the road and I know that I am not supposed to cross before stopping and waiting for Mom or Dad to lead off to cross the street. That is how we do it during our usual walks, so I think that may have helped the fact that I didn't dart across the road. Or perhaps the blood curdling screams coming from Mom and Dad made me unsure of which way to go, so I just stopped.

We went back to the water and I swam a little more, (This time with the leash) although I still had the urge to go back towards the road. Mom and Dad watched me try several times, but I wasn't going to get away this time.

We got home, I first got a bath and then Mom and Dad went out to eat. I stayed home to dream about the day's adventures............
