Just the other day mom took Sheena and I for a springtime walk. As mom put on her shoes I was so excited...I did the hurry up and lets go dance back and forth about her chair. When she finally tied her shoes, hooked our leashes and opened the door I could smell fun in the air. That is why I bolted down the driveway dragging mom and Sheena behind me. Mom couldn't believe my behavior as I am normally calm and gentle. As we neared the end of the driveway, she saw what was so compelling....a tiny rabbit in the tall grass! Yeah, I lunged and my mom pulled me back...it was a great tug-of-war! Eventually mom won so the bunny scampered off while I sulked.
As we jogged down the road, I began to perk up again - the smell of fun was still in the air! About twenty feet from us a pheasant was going about his business in the field. Mom must have very poor sniffing power because she didn't know he was there until I pounced! Boy was that fun...I nearly got a tail feather and my mom was once again playing tug-of-war with me as the pheasant took flight.
Mom was pretty annoyed with me at this point so she said we were taking a short-cut through the field and going home, she had enough! Initially, I felt bad for ruining the walk, but my depression soon ended. As we cross the freshly cut field I hear something....I see some grass moving and what to my wondering eyes appears......A SNAKE! (I should tell you that my mom HATES snakes, she is scared to death of them!) So, being a good dog that I am, I grab the snake right in the center and start shaking it. I am on a short leash and the snake is getting very close to mom during my shakes. Mom is now screaming, jumping up and down and about to let go of my leash because she can't tolerate the snake hitting her legs when I shake it. At this point I realize that I am sending mom over the edge and toward the insane asylum, so I drop the snake, watch it slither away and continue our walk. Mom got to the house and put me in the kennel to think about my actions. I thought a lot and I think it was a fun walk! I will thank her later...maybe a great big snaky kiss!
Mom is doing much better now, she stopped shaking after a few hours and the color has returned to her skin. I think she will have a full recovery!
I just wanted to let everyone know just how much fun the springtime walks are for me! I wonder why I haven't gone on one in a few days?

So, today mom and dad had a baby here...they called him Konner, I called him "going home soon". Oh, don't worry I was very good to him, but I was counting the hours until his mom and dad picked him up. He was needy and followed me around, he smelled like poop and he could barely stand up let alone be usefull enough to take me for a walk! Although he was very kind and even shared his cherries with me, I have to ask, what is the purpose of something that can't even take me for a walk?
PS- Shelcy loved him, so you should check out her diary for a different perspective. Apparently babies are a girl thing!

Wow, what a day! I had my first play date today. My Aunt Donna brought over her Chow/lab mix, Toby, over to play. He has been one of my pup pals forever, but we never got to meet until today! The meeting went pretty much as mom had expected....
We all peed all over the yard to make it smell just right. Then I barked and play bowed to Toby and he IGNORED me. Yeah, he ignored me! He used to live with a lot of dogs in a shelter before Aunt Donna rescued him, so apparently, he learned how to ignore there!
After being left together for awhile, I got his attention (i wont go into exactly how), but from then on, we were pals. We played a little, rested a little and were generally having fun. That is until dad came out to cook the steaks! At that point Dad became Toby's best friend and I was ignored again!
All in all, we had a great day together and I have a new friend to play with!
(Don't forget to check my sister Sheena's diary entry about this play date)!!! It didn't go so well for her!!

Yes, you heard me right! My sister, Sheena and I are in the olympics!! It is something mom calls the "furniture olympics" and it goes something like this: I chase Sheena and she jumps on the couch, I chase her again and she bounds onto the loveseat (almost in the aquarium a few times), I chase her again and she ends up flipping on the recliner. This type of talent takes a lot of practice and we love to practice. Sometimes mom inspires us to practice by trying to nap on the couch. Nothing better than jumping on the couch when mom is there! Ooops, did we wake you?
