Bye-bye Bro

On September 21, 2008, Dexter went to the Rainbow Bridge. He was in his kennel, in the middle of all the family doings and slipped peacefully away on a Sunday afternoon. He'd had a stroke earlier in the week. Grandma says he never was quite the same after Missy crossed the Bridge. She gave him Missy's blankie and wrapped him in it after he was gone. I will miss him. Even though he was bossy...

Koda.

Santy Paws is coming....

Ohhhh, my tummy hurts.....

I ate all the peanut butter cookies that were cooling on the counter when my family wasn't looking.

I heard my little boy playing with a squeaky toy and tore up all the stuffies I could lay my paws on looking for that pesky squeaker thing.

I left pee mail on the packages under that big green thing. That means they're all mine, right?

I got muddy paw prints on the kitchen floor and Grandma's shirt when I tried to hug and kiss her. The snow is melting here. If Santy Paws doesn't hurry the snow will all be gone.

Oh no!! (looks around guiltily.) Whispers: Do you think Santy Paws saw me? Do you think he won't come now??? Missy's been so good this year, that won't be fair!! Does being bad just for today count??? Oh, Santy Paws, I am so sorry, you can give Missy my presents, but please come for her... Okay???

I'm just going to go lay down over here, my tummy's too full... I'll just be over here for the rest of the day, 'Kay????

Hope Santy Paws is good to you.....

Merry Christmas....

Love,

Dex

I went gack, good, this summer, it was just too blasted hot to do anything else. Grandma doesn't mind when I do normal dog stuff like chasing the squirrels. It's when I do the clever stuff, like going UNDER the chain link fence or opening the back gate or my kennel or the fridge that I drive her nuts.

Right now, I'm planning on visiting with all my doggie pals in the neighborhood to invite them to a surprise pawty for Missy's birthday. AnytimeI go under the fence, the entire neighborhood KNOWS I'm checking the pee- mail and visiting with my Bad Dog buddies. They help round me up and deliver me to Grandma. Sigh. Grandma's gotten to know the different voices of the dogs around me AND when they're telling me to meet them outside. I've got mixed feelings about that. On the one paw, she gets me OUTSIDE, but on the other paw, she's learning to speak canine....

Anyway, hope y'all had a good Halloweenie and I'lll bark at you soon...

What's this. Green stuff. Hmm. Taste it or pee on it? Maybe both. Grandma loves my gardening skills. Gonna be nice today. Hmmm. Another bar-b-que day. We'll be surrounded by lots of good smelling eats. I'll have to work up my extra pathetic starving face: with so many doggies around here it's hard to get extra goodies to munch on.

Lots of mud puddles yesterday, it's drying up today. We drove Grandma nuts, yesterday: we barked to go out,we barked to come in; we got mud and wet doggie water everywhere ...hee,hee, hee...

Haven't been able to chase any geese, lately so, I've been keeping sharp by chasing the squirrels and the crows, instead. Maybe, when BOTH Mommie and Grandma have the same day of they'll remember that I like to walk at the park with Missy!! Walking around the neighborhood's one thing, but I need to chase geese. Harumph....

Sniff. Sniff...Oooh, the neighbors firing up his gril, he's always god for a hot dog or two, think I'll go out side now for an afternoon snack until Granma starts grilling dinner...

Chase your tails for me.

Love,

Dexter

Torturing Missy

Hee hee. We haven't had a lot of snow here, which is unusual. Instead we've had some rain storms complete with thunder. The water then froze and turned into ice. I't's slippery outside. Which makes it easy for me to knock Missy down when we're on the stairs. She gets pretty upset with me but I don't ALWAYS do it on purpose...

I got a new basketball stuffy and shredded it to pieces under thirty seconds. I then redecorated the house with the fluffies from the stuffie!! Mommie wasn't really happy about that. I still have the knotted bone toy I got from Santy Paws. I hid Missy's, too. She can't find it anywhere! Hee hee.

Hmm, smells like Grandmaa's rustling up some biscuits for breakfast.
Gotta go! Bark at you later.

My good friend Olive (as in OLIVE THE OTHER REINDEER) says that All the Reindeer are sick from something the cats gave them so they can bring out something called Kitty Claws this year. Santy Paws needs all the BAD dogs from Dogster to help pull the sleigh so that all the presents can be delivered tonight!

So, all you Good Bad Dogs, this is an ALERT!!! Rest up for tonight or there'll be lots of disappointed doggies and kitties and HUMANS tonight. DOGS RULE! CATS DROOL! And we hafta help Santy Paws tonight!

See you all tonight at midnight at the secret headquarters for keeping the cats from taking over the world. Have a Bright and MERRY CHRISTMAS, every doggie!

Love,

Dex

Oh, this being a GOOD bad dog is hard work! Missy and all threw me a birthday pawty and that was fun and I was forgiven for playing a game of hide and seek with my little boy's favorite stuffie. It was a little wet and kinda lumpy, but I gave it back for some milk bones.

We had lots of eats and treats and Grandma made some doggie cookies. MMM.
Now she's been baking some more and I've been counter surfing and trash can diving BIG time...Santy Paws can't see me every second can he? He has all these other good bad doggies to watch over, right? Hmm. I better be extra good this week.

All that lovely snow melted so I shredded some toilet paper all over the house to make it lool like Christmas. That wasn't a bad thing, was it? I mean, I was decorating for Christmas? Right? Yeah, that's my story....Ohhh, I hate having to be goood....Christmas, hurry up...

And Santy Paws, can you bring Missy a new blankie? I kinda got carried away playing tug of war with hers. And a new pillow for Grandma's couch? I, um, kinda killed that one, too. It's dribbling stuffing now. I need a new leash and um, collar, please. And a stuffie would be nice and some more Milk Bones, please. And some pigs ears, toos. I promise I won't eat Missy's this year, if you bring her some, too...I am really trying, see? I only marked the green thing in the living room once, so far, this year...

Love,

Dexter

That big green thing is back

I went on my morning rounds and found that big green thing is back in my living room. I was right! Santy Paws should be coming soon. I know that Grandma gets really mad when I "mark" the green thing but it's mine! I have to let everybody know it's mine!! And, I have to mark it for Santy Paws to know where to put my presents! Don't I? I was good this morning, I did not mark the green thing when Grandma was with me, but I will. I will. I must!
It is my duty. Hmm, I wonder when the packages will start appearing? Must mark them, too!

And what's that lovely smell? Bacon?? Grandma's making bacon?? Ooohh,
gotta go, bark at you later...

Love,

Dex

We had a PAWTY for Missy

Missy turned 13 on Turkey Day. So, we had a pawty for her. All my sad eyes didn't get Grandma to cook us a goose, but the Turkey was great! And the mashed 'taters and stuffing and mmmm gravy and everything else. We ate and napped and ate and napped and ate and napped some more....

And then IT SNOWED!! Hot dog! We had to go out and play and run and play some more and then come in and run back out. Then, I just had to go trash can diving: the Turkey carcass was calling my name. I even shared some with Missy.

We helped Grandma slurp all the mess that fell to the floor and supervised the making and baking of the pumpkin pies and the cookies. This must mean that there's more goodies coming: and Santy Paws is coming soon! Hmm. Gotta go make my list...

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!!

Love,

Dex

Another try, another doomed attempt

Those stupid, evil geese are STILL waddling around and honking and pooping all around MY lake. I can't shake Grandma long enough to give chase to the hissing, sneaky things. Missy's been trying, too, but we've gotten nowhere.

Then we managed to give away our latestst tangle secret to chase geese in a down pour and only got soaking wet for all our troubles. I couldn't even find a DUCK. to chase. The weather just has not co-operated. It was warm and WET on Friday and we had a stupid thunderstorm, so NO WALK to chase the stupid geese. Today, no walk either, someting about getting ready for Halloween. Hmm, If I remember right, this means lots of little kids with bags of goodies that I must inspect...This could be good...

Bark at you later...
