Leave a bone for Tawny (In Memoriam)

Nicknames: Tawny Poo, Sweetie Pie

Quick Bio:
Likes: Lobster treats, getting pets, my sister Mollie, Grandma & Grandpa

Pet-Peeves: Mud, dry dog food

Favorite Toy: Anything that squeeks, the vaccum

Favorite Food: Ice cream, toast with jam, prime rib

Favorite Walk: In and out the back door

Arrival Story: Tawny had two days left on her 'sentence' at the pound when I met her. So, I scooped her up and took her home. She had been abused - most likely kicked by a man wearing work boots since that's what she used to bark at all the time.

Bio: Tawny was a very bright Queensland Heeler-cross who loved to take care of her family. She passed away in my arms in the early morning hours of June 20, 2008 - after a short illness. We will forever miss her kisses and pawing for attention. She's now in heaven running around with our other family dogs - Indy, JJ, Pepper and Reet.

As you get older, you slow down. This fall, my family noticed I was tired most of the time and didn't even want to follow people upstairs - very unusual behavior. The vet said I had an advanced case of kidney failure. He wanted to put me down right then. Luckily, when Grandma called my mom - she said no and asked for the results to be faxed to her and she would talk to her vets. She did and they put me on a special KD diet. I feel much better. I miss my usual treats, but I'm back to my old self - wagging, licking and running up and down the stairs. I know this diet only treats the symptoms, but any extra time I have with my mom is good. She needs me to need her. I'm glad she got a second opinion.
