Birthday:
February 7th 2004

Likes:
running, chasing anything that moves, curling up on the sofa with his mom, sunbathing, ear massages and tummy rubs. Can life get any better than that?

Pet-Peeves:
being left alone, vacuum cleaners, the rain and being cold

Favorite Toy:
squeaky ball, plastic bottles and tearing up kleenexs (although my mom doesn't think they are toys)

Favorite Food:
any treats but especially CHEESE

Favorite Walk:
to the dog park or out with the dog walker

Best Tricks:
waiting until my mom says "okay" before starting to eat my food (she trys to trick me by saying other words first), when it's time to go to bed my mom says "bedtime" and I jump off the sofa and run into our room and lay down on my bed

Arrival Story:
I've wanted a dog since I can remember. I did a lot of research to find a good breeder and I went on a waiting list with them for one of their puppies. Almost a year later I got the email I had been waiting for. The puppies were finally here. About 8 weeks later I made the trip to take my pick out of 4 males. Within seconds of sitting down on the floor Riley came running up to me and laid down in my lap. I played with the puppies for a little while but Riley stayed in my lap the whole time. He picked me.

Bio:
I have taken obedience classes in English and French so I am bilingual - although sometimes I pretend not to understand my mom when I'm doing something that is more fun. I've started racing, lure coursing and fly ball. We are always on the lookout for something new and exciting so who knows what's next!

I just got some new pj's today and you can see that I love them in the picture above. Don't I have a good human? I kept stealing her blanket but now I'm nice and cozy. It's my early Christmas present.

Happy New Year! Woof!

Well it's been a while since my last entry and I have so much to talk about. Last weekend I went to my first lure coursing meet and got certified to run in Canada and the States. My mom was a little nervous because it was my first time running the course with other dogs but I was a natural. I went to fly ball this week for the first time in a while because I have been layed up with an injury (pulled a muscle in my front leg) and I was so happy to get out it was my best class yet! They finally figured out my motivator - it's not tugs or any other toy for that matter - it's chasing my mom! I was going a little stir crazy at home due to the lack of activity so it was great to get out and do something. My mom is still stretching my leg and putting ice on it, which I hate! Hopefully that will be over with soon.
My mom is thinking about getting a second dog. I'm not sure about this whole idea but she keeps telling me that I will have company when she leaves for work. I kind of like getting all the attention when she is around though....
Well it's time for bed. I've got a play date tomorrow so I need to rest up.

What an exciting time it has been since my move back to Ottawa. I finished another obedience class, went to a straight racing practice and started fly ball! I did really good at straight racing - I couldn't wait to chase the lure. The first time the person who was holding me when my Mom went down to the other end of the field to catch me lost her grip and I went tearing down the field after her. She was standing there watching me run down the field wondering where the lure was. I just wanted to get to her. After the practice (and three successful runs after the lure) people told us that I did really good but my Mom wasn't surprised. I was born to run. Now she's getting all the gear to start me racing and hopes to find some lure coursing practices close to us too. Fly ball was a much slower start. It was hard for me to concentrate because all the other dogs were barking. The only two things I did was chase after my Mom to practice recall and run around a cone. I liked chasing my Mom - then again I like chasing everything - but the cone was kind of boring. My Mom took it home with her to practice with me when there is less distractions. The best part of class was at the end when my Mom let me off the leash and another dog chased me around. I really got to let loose then.

It's time for my walk. woof
