The Rules
(Hint: Copy and paste the rules so you don't have to type them again):
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their diary the rules and their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!

Seven Fun Facts About Me!
1. I think that I am the mama of every baby that comes to my house. I sit beside them, kiss them when they're not looking and prevent everyone else from getting too close... especially Pitunia.
2. I've managed to convince my parents that I am not a dog, but infact a small human adult. I am incapable of sitting or lying on the floor, and sleep only under the blankets with my head on the pillow.
3. I have amazing eyesight. Sitting on my big chair, I once saw a tiny spider fall from our ceiling fan. I proceeded to run, grab and eat him as quickly as possible.
4. At my most recent vet visit, the nice lady said she really thought that I might have some Ibizan Hound in me, which got me all excited, cause I've always thought that I look like a mini-Izzie.
5. I am no longer going to be a pup of an unsure future. Mommy and Daddy are tying the knot in September! I love knotty ropes.
6. I am terrified of guns, but I love to go hunting with my Daddy. I will honestly run and hide if a gun is brought in the house, but sitting in the field while Daddy shoots Ducks is awesome. Strange? Mommy thinks so.
7. I pretend that I hate Pitunia, but sometimes I can't help but lick her and cuddle with her on the couch when no one is looking. SHHH! Don't tell!
The seven dogs I have tagged are:
1. Jersey!
2. Nigel!
3. Kasey T. Dogg!
4. Priscilla Wobbles Bean!
5. Shasta!
6. Daisy Mae!
7. Gracie Allen!

It has been so long, oh Diary, since I've had the time to pen the haps to you. Lot's has been going on this summer. Let's start with my freedom.
My freedom started when Pitunia joined our family. Mom and Daddy were afraid of the Cuddle Puddle wandering the house, and so they put her in my kennel and let me roam free. I loved my freedom. I celebrated it by sleeping in the upstairs bedroom, with a perfect view of the driveway. This was great during those really hot summer months, as I would growl and sputter whenever someone pulled in the driveway. They would get worried because they could hear a big fierce dog, but they could not see me. It was great. Then I celebrated such freedom buy eating all of the bedding in that upstairs bedroom. Really though, it's not my fault.... I was trying to get cumfy in the covers and one ripped.... I realized there was stuffing in the covers and decided that I prefer stuffing ALL over the room... Really. Think of the comfort if the whole floor was covered in stuffing! And finally, I decided to see if I could release the couch pillows and cushions from there stuffing as well. I realize it's Mommy's fairly new couch. But again, let's think of the comfort theory. I got my new kennel that night. I miss my freedom.
And Then..... Daddy decided to take me hunting. He is convinced that I have some lab in me somewhere, so we went to get some geese. I was a really good girl. I listened so well. I just stayed sitting beside Daddy, even when all the geese were flying away. But Daddy must have been scared of my reaction, as he did not even shoot on goose!
And now Mommy is transfering to a new job. She says that we will spend even more time out of our Kennels cause she doesn't work the same hours as Daddy any more. But I'll believe it when I see it.
Hopefully it won't take me so long to write to you again next time.
Paws!

Barking up wrong tree on dog issue
Pit bull owner wants Portage RM to scrap proposed canine ban
By Leighton Klassen
The Daily Graphic
Friday May 19, 2006
OAKVILLE — Some say vicious dogs are running rampant in Oakville, others say they haven’t seen one in years.
That’s the latest page out of the Oakville dog controversy, which was raised on May 9 when Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie council gave first reading to a proposed bylaw that will ban aggressive dogs, particularly pit bulls, from Oakville.
At the time, Reeve Jim Knight said the bylaw could be extended to cover the entire RM.
The RM’s action raised concerns for city resident Mel Blair, who plans to move to the RM. She owns a dog that fits into a pit bull classification, and is upset pit bull-type dogs would be banned.
She and another dog owner pleaded their case at Oakville’s Local Urban District (LUD) committee meeting on Monday, but she said the information she received went against what RM officials have been saying.
“We asked (Bill Alford and Dale McLeod) what their main issue was and they said they don’t have a dog problem and don’t even have any dogs living in the village, as far as they knew,” she said yesterday.
Alford and McLeod, who both sit on Oakville’s LUD committee, and the RM’s chief administrative officer, Darrell Hrehirchuk, were present at the meeting.
Although Alford and McLeod were unavailable for comment yesterday, Hrehirchuk, who took minutes at the meeting, confirmed the two said they don’t actually have a dog problem in the village.
“They said they currently don’t have a problem, but they did in the past,” Hrehirchuk said yesterday. “So they’re trying to be proactive instead of reactive.”
However, at RM council’s May 9 meeting, councillors were told the dangerous dogs are everywhere, and that’s the reason behind the proposed bylaw.
“The cranky dogs have been around for a while,” Reeve Jim Knight said in the May 13 issue of Central Plains Herald-Leader.
In an interview yesterday, Knight wasn’t so confident dogs were actually in the area.
“They’ve been there in the past -- I don’t know if they’re there right at the moment,” he admitted.
When asked what led him to believe there were problem dogs in Oakville, he recalled incidents that have occurred in the past.
“There’s always been a problem one way or another and it just rears its head,” he said, adding the dogs were not the problem, it’s the owners.
“It’s not the dogs so much, but it’s the owners not looking after what they have,” he said.
When asked what evidence he has to suggest dog owners, like Blair, are not taking care of their pets, he replied: “That’s a good question.”
Blair admits dogs can attack people if they are not taken care of, but that notion doesn’t apply to her.
“It’s usually when they’re not trained properly,” she said, adding her dog is well trained.
Knight said the proposed dangerous dog ban is in response to issues raised by Oakville citizens.
Blair said the legislation will step on the rights of other people.
“As a pit bull owner, it concerns me because I view it as a matter of discrimination,” she said. “I think it should be my right as a responsible dog owner.”
The proposed bylaw is expected to receive final approval on May 23.
